The sculpt might turn out good, but the poor paint apps kill the figure. HT's does not do this. They have great pain apps. Even if one of the sculpts turns out so so, the paint lifts it up. SSC will not improve their pain apps to save their life. Don't expect Indy to look great. Sculpt might be good, but their pain is going to kill it. Sorry, I have been burned too many times by SSC.
What are you trying to say? :lol

Did anyboy take a good close-up picture of the prototype Indy's face in the previous cons/shows? I am really worried about this piece now. :(

Yeah. I have no illusions that we'll get that level of paint and it irks me. I get that there will be differences between protos and production pieces, but the the gulf between the two is usually pretty darn wide when it comes to Sideshow. it's frustrating and I don't want to reward that behavior ... but nobody else is making Indy!

I want to skip this figure for that reason, but if we do, what they'll hear instead is that "nobody wants Indy" not "we should maybe stop over-promising on our paint work."

I feel caught betwixt and between on this one.:gah:

But again people are expecting a Hot Toys quality from a company that is not Hot Toys. I know is not unpar with figures from other company even small ones. But if people keep buying the pattern won't change. Sadly I want that indy lol.

People compare that figure to HT because of the price point SSC has been putting their figures at. When you price your figure around the same as HT people will expect to pay for similar quality.

Unfortunately that is exactly what will happen. :(

I'm keeping my order but only because I love the character so much, and even though I have all the Sideshow versions and the HT one, I still feel like I don't have a good representation. I'm not expecting miracles from Sideshow. But I do hope the eyes are better than the pilot Luke. If they can get the eyes okay, then I'll be content. I can live with a basic paintjob on the face. Jango's eyes looked okay from what I could tell, so maybe there's still a chance.

$#@! 'em. Why keep supporting a company that consistently over-promises and under-delivers on their products by cutting every corner imaginable just to increase their greedy profit margins? If this is the final nail in the coffin for Indy from Sideshow so much the better. They don't deserve the license.

What's strange is, SS seems deaf/unaware that there is a paint app low standard quality with their products.

A couple months ago there was a Sideshow employee checking out feed back. Now will be a good time to login and check.

I'm sure they know. They just can't seem to do anything about it. They have certainly made efforts to try and make their figures better. Look at the evolution of their figures. They started out simply painting the faces, and the paint looked caked on and often odd colors. Then they tried casting the heads in the skin color. Better, but they still couldn't get the eyes right. So then they tried the separate eye technique, which looked pretty good in the prototypes (if you remember the protos for Hoth Luke and Han and Drake, all which looked like HT quality) but were terrible in the final product. Now they thankfully abandoned the eye thing, and they've gone as far as hiring top talent to paint the prototypes, but apparently they can't seem to find a factory that will execute the paint correctly. I can see that they are definitely trying, but for one reason or another, they fall short.

They must have tested these companies before they contracted them. Otherwise stop it with the overpricing of products with subpar paint apps.

If the figure was like $150 shipped i'd be like ok...i'll just get it repainted. Even that is bull!$<#{! course but still.

Bucky has a good point regarding the indy licence. I'm at a point where i think sideshow should pass the torch on indy to other companies. I've seen asmus etc doing better jobs with paintjobs. The sculpts are hit and miss, but at least they know how to paint eyes!

It's been said before; Sideshow should stick to aliens and troopers.

I passed on the entire hoth collection because i don't trust sideshow with human characters. I wanted them all but i make sets with my figures. Hoth han looks asian. Hoth luke looks alien! Since i had to pass on them i passed on everything else.

It's also funny that sideshow pushes hot toys forward. New hot toys release bla bla. They should say look at them putting us to shame!

Sorry peeps, really pissed here.

I had this on order, but cancelled it a long time ago. I'm waiting to see in hand pics before deciding whether or not to buy this. I took the chance on the HT figure and $250 later he's boxed up in my closet. I'm not going down that road with this figure if I don't like the way it comes out.

I admire you sticking to your guns, especially since you're such a big Indy fan.:duff

Thanks Lu! I've bought just about everything Sideshow made in the Indiana Jones line, so it's hard to sit back and wait on this one. I hope it comes out good, because I do want it.

I too cancelled this a long time ago. I will not get burned again. Too expensive. If in hand pictures look good, then I will order. I am not concerned with this selling out. I think it is wrong to lock these threads. The Luke x-wing thread should not since the pictures were of the actual figure that was released. How are in hand pictures going to be much better. I wonder if the thread would get locked if it was about a HT's figure. Seems nothing negative can be said about SSC or Star ACE.
