Thanks, MOL! Question, then - does SSC do anything like La-La-Land Records in terms of a low-stock alert, or is it just in stock one day, gone the next hour? (It just seems like a big gamble to go 6+ months hoping for a discount on the figure which may not happen at all even, correct?

It's definitely a gamble but if it's a slow seller then other retailers like Big Bad Toy Store will probably have plenty of them in stock when Sideshow sells out. The tauntaun sold out at SS a while back but BBTS still has them.
If the figure turns out great though it's best to just buy (also this figure is eligible for the monthly $20 coupon so if you do order from SS might as well save a bit), but if it's just okay and not amazing it may sit in stock for several months.
SS only just sold out of the Hoth figures this past Spook (they offered 20% off on those a few times I think) and those are similar to Indy in that they were released in March of 2015.

Ahh, true - BBTS would still have a bunch (you just lose out on the monthly installment option, I guess).

What's this $20 off coupon you speak of? And are you able to stack discounts at all, do you know? (I have a "$15 off your first order" deal; is it only one discount per order?)

Yeah it's one per order. I'll post the link if I can get it off the mobile app. The $15 could come in handy if you need to have a second figure that month. But otherwise the $20 ones work on anything that's been in stock a couple months.

Ah, ok - so not off the Indy preorder, or once it's in stock; it has to have been released for a few months, then?

Sorry, I meant anything that's been up for pre-order for a couple months. So it would work on Indy.

Oh, sweet!! I'm not the greatest with math (English is my forte), but $20 trumps $15, haha! No rush; if you can find it, please let me know - and thanks!!

Here's the thread to follow/subscribe to. When there's a January code the thread title will get updated to reflect the active code, plus there will be tons of posts about it. And don't worry, I used one of those welcome codes (when it was only $10) before I knew all the tricks. A lot of folks here won't order anything until a $20 code works on it. :lol

I remember Rook said the same thing after photographing X-Wing Luke. That one turned out to be a very good figure, but only with the helmet on.

Seeing as Indy can't hide behind a visor the indication is that Sideshow managed to get the eyes and painting closer to the prototype than they managed with Luke.

I really don't want to have to cancel this one.

With the hat on though that will certainly shadow the eyes a bit, especially under detolf lights. Have to admit that this certainly helps both the Hoth figures. Still very curious about this one, it could be my only non-Star Wars purchase if it comes out nicely.

Yes, I forgot about the chance that the fedora might cast sculpt-saving shadows!

If so, then he'll be another one-trick pony like X-Wing Luke.

Few will be wanting to use this display option:

While I'm still hopeful for this, I think we should take the comments of someone who has been allowed to photograph and preview the production figure with a pinch of salt. Their opinion is unlikely to be 100% unbiased based on that situation in itself.

Rook is more than just an official Sideshow photographer—he’s also a collector and fan. In fact, he started out collecting and posting on this board long before Sideshow took notice of his beautiful photographs and hired him to shoot for them (and do their posing videos!).

He is a really good guy and an incredible photographer and I trust his opinion. If he didn't like it, he would have just not said anything about it.

huzzah for sculpt saving shadows!! :D

I don't know why toy companies insist on making the hat a separate piece. It'll never look right otherwise.
I preferred the original way Sideshow did it as part of the head. Make a hatless head the EX if you have to.
Hot Toys went for a 'best of both worlds' way with the hair sculpt being removable and 'hat hair' being placed underneath to better fit the hat. That was okay.
