the sculpt i don't think its actually that bad really especially in the pic below. Could do with a bit more stubble but not a terrible effort.

but definitely i agree with other posters here its the size of the head versus the size of the hat thats a real killer with this figure.

I could probably live with the likeness myself (being no more generic a Ford than the HT Han in my view), but the small head and laughably huge hat just makes it a complete dealbreaker for me. At the very least they needed to get the basic sizes right so it could look halfway decent and realistic on your shelf, but they clearly didn't put much effort into that at all. And even from a distance this thing is going to look pretty silly.

And really, with how few accessories there are, they couldn't have made the machete from real metal instead of plastic?

It was supposed to be a real metal blade. How do you know it's not now?

And what makes you think the back of the hair is removable? Because it looks a little flat in that picture? I don't think the back of the hair is removable--just a flat back head.

There is a very obvious seam running behind his ear close up to the part in his hair in the shot I quoted. It's possible it's just a really bad seam, but it looks more like a spot where the hair is removable.

I was going to circle what I'm talking about, but photobucket is down at the moment :lol

If you have one flexpay left, can you still cancel and get a full refund? Or would you lose all the previous payments you'd made?

I believe if you cancel there is a penalty... something like 10%; so you'd get most of your money back but not all of it. I think Sideshow will sometimes wave the fee if there is a concern about the final product, but they are not obligated to do so.

I think I see what you mean. But I think SS would promote that if it was a feature. Plus the hat wouldn't have needed to be so large if the hair was removable.

And I still think the head itself is a good size, but the large sombrero (and what I see as small face features) just make it look small. Maybe the fat neck isn't helping either.

You're probably right... the more I look at it the area where the seam is would not affect the hat at all... you'd think the front of his hair would be the part that would need to be removed. In looking at the pictures from the proto to the final figure Indy's face was longer and not quite as round as this final head. I'm assuming it was the same body and the head looked appropriately scaled on the proto, but now it looks smaller.

Whatever the case the head/hat doesn't look right and it really hurts and otherwise good looking figure. I will say it looks like the paint work on the body (at least the exposed arm) took a step up in production. It seems to have some hair painted and a bit of a dirty/sweaty look the proto didn't have.

Thanks for that, I'll get in touch with them. Looking at the production piece, the thought of making that last flexpay, plus international shipping with customs charges on top turns my stomach... :(

I suggets you wait till someone has it in hand. Hong Kong will have it first so some pics will likely show up in the next couple of weeks before shipping.

In hand this will look the same. I'm very disappointed in this.
An undersized sculpt and oversized hat is actually worse than Sideshows normal lack of paint detail.
Fine paint detail is only visible up close. But sizing issues like this are a lot more noticeable.
I had to sell of Enterbays Dennis Rodman for the same reason. You just can't unsee the pinhead.

And the sculpt itself and paint detail actually looks good to me. Much better than Sideshow's normal effort.

I said it a few times in this thread, the hat should have been part of the head sculpt.

And once again Sideshow's lack of ethics come to the fore. Can't help to compare them to QMX who upon seeing the Mal Reynolds head, knew it wasn't good enough went and had it redone.

Cancelled. If that's the best it looks with professional photography under stylised lighting, no way is it going to look better in hand.

Me neither. When did Eric Bana play Indiana Jones. Very disappointed... :(

LOL. But in fairness to Sideshow it looks unmistakably like Ford in the close up, it just gets that Bana feel from a far. I doubt in person it has that effect.

This reminds me I should revive that Marion Ravenwood project I quit cold turkey because it gave me such difficulty.

Yes, please! My Marion is so cold without her shirt and scarf! :lol

I really want Sideshow to succeed and I really want to give them my money as they produce figures from lines I am interested in, but having said that, they consistently put out production figures that are significantly different from the prototype which, in my opinion, is completely unacceptable.

After Snake and now this! I'm so disappointed with sideshow this is the last time I will place a preorder on one of their 1/6. They should give you the option of pulling out when finished product photos come out. This had a NRD on it so if I cancel now I lose it. This is not the figure I preordered. Yea I know that sculpts change between prototype and finished but this guy looks like an 1930s Italian American thug has beat up Indy and stole his clothes, trying very badly to impersonate him.

This looks pretty horrible IMO
Will this thread get locked now?

Aside from the likeness and obviously enhanced lighting, it looks like they either enlarged or moved the head down in that shot. The line under the jawline looks like quickie photoshopping.
