Re: SSC - Temple of Doom - Indiana Jones

Wow, can't believe this is actually real! And yeah, the likeness doesn't seem quite there, but with his bruises, cuts, and 5 o-clock shadow it at least has enough of the TOD Indy "feel" about it. And isn't as glaringly off as the HT likeness was.

Just wait until in-hand photos reveal sloppy Nathan Drake quality paint apps.

Re: SSC - Temple of Doom - Indiana Jones

Ahh cool! The shirt is looking much better (no huge buttons!) would be good if they did an extra ripped up, sweaty clothes set as this could just be a Raiders Indy as it stands.

So is this an actual Sideshow release or Hot Toys through Sideshow? I never know now :dunno

Re: SSC - Temple of Doom - Indiana Jones

See?? I told you TOD was coming.

Not even a month ago:

HT announced their ROTLA Indy on the eve of the 30th anniv year. C'mon HT... only another 2 1/2 months of 30th anniv year for TOD left.:yess::lol

Currently accepting Reputation as thanks (even if I got the company wrong.):monkey3

I wonder if he'll come with a jacket...

Indy with no jacket? :lecture

Now the dilemma...

This one is from Sideshow. It may be from their Cult Classics line. Sideshow's new line for character choices that may not be part of an extensive lineup like Snake Plissken.

I'm glad this is happening. I'm sure Sideshow will fine tune this figure a lot more before we see the specs. I'm sure the final figure will include Jacket, untorn shirt, machete and maybe shankara stones, sanscript and/or chalice of Kahli.

This is for sale already?? Bah you fooled me!!!! I just went and looked. :(

Re: SSC - Temple of Doom - Indiana Jones

This entry into the 1/6 indy offerings has to be the ONE ! ! As collectors we have been more than patient to be blown away by a spot -on harrison ford likeness. The pf's were almost there, but i want my jaw to hit the floor when pics of this go up on ssc website for po:pray:

TOD Indy PF was spot on IMO. The best likeness to Ford to date...again, my opinion.

I wouldn't expect to be blown away by the likeness on this one either, since even HT has had problems getting Ford right recently. But either way, it's still bound to be a helluva lot closer than the HT Indy (and of course a huge step up from Sideshow's previous Indy figs). Which will be good enough for me.

Plus, it's for the awesome and highly underrated TOD, which automatically makes it a bit more special than any other Indy figure I think.

Re: SSC - Temple of Doom - Indiana Jones

If Trevor Grove is at the helm for sculpting.. the likeness will be dead on.. Just comes down to paint apps.. Repainted SS Raiders Indys are perfect when the painter is on their game… This has potential… but at that price point it better have more gear and clothing than just the torn shirt version.. otherwise it is a loose parts buy for me.. at $239 it better have a gob of accessories and even a separate outfit (TUX !) and second head… otherwise sideshow has lost their mind..

That's a given after $-Wing Luke. But, as you say, worst case this is a parts purchase and we were expecting nothing so it's kind of a win either way.

I kept looking for the other pics of the Luke showing the rest of the parts to justify the price...

Re: SSC - Temple of Doom - Indiana Jones

God bless Sideshow for even trying. A lame attempt at this will still get my monies.

Is that what we're down to with Sideshow at this point.
'Bless them for even trying'

Sound about right, really :D

Re: SSC - Temple of Doom - Indiana Jones

Has anyone spoken to Trevor Grove to see if this is his work?? I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't. He hasn't worked on SSC's figures in a while.

That's exactly the reason why this indy figure needs to shine above all the previous efforts. ToD is the least accepted movie from the original three, but had all kinds of awesome, which this figure should possess too.

I prefer Temple of Doom to The Last Crusade.
