And I'll be here when you do get to it :)

Got my Jawa's today too so even more photo opportunities.

:rock Getting mine today too!

I found a Coaster brand cabinet that's very similar, if not the same as a Detolf on Amazon for $157 shipped. I might snag it and start making some full shelf displays next week.

NOW we're talking!!!!!!!!

LOVING the new sand design with the rocks!

Thanks! Should be an interesting project.

I sure have, T. Momaw gave me some good ideas for post placement a couple months ago. I just have been putting it off until I can get one to display it in. I think it'd look cool though.

I'm still down for a full sand shelf display plate and a full imperial grate display plate (red for imperial, grey for rebel) no post holes please I like my figures to stand naturally

I never even considered doing plates without posts and grabbers. Hmmm...I wonder how many display their figures that way.

They must not have fracking in their neck of the woods :lecture :lol

Great looking stands, btw :rock And if you need to test anything out in a detolf for sizing I have two at my place :duff

You got that right. I wouldn't dare leave a figure set up without a stand around here.

Thanks! And I may take you up on that offer. I could always drop a few stands off with you for photos too. :duff

Are you getting the Jawas?

Floppy... Very floppy...

It's like trying to get my girlfriend to stand up when she's had too much to drink...

But I still love her... And I think I love these guys too!!

I do a great job of balancing them, it's part of what makes them look real! I only have one sideshow sandtrooper out of probably 30 or so figures that falls, and it's because of his weak legs, so I lean him back a touch against the back glass of his shelf. But honestly, they are all in detolfs so if they fall it's not like they are crashing to the floor, they are just slumping over and end up leaning against a glass wall.

We are talking about display plates for a detolf right? If you display your figures outside of a detolf, say on a high up shelf or such, then yeah I wouldn't want to risk my figures stage diving either. But this is not so dangerous inside of a detolf shelf. So yeah, display plates inside of a detolf with no posts would be amazing natural looking environments for the figures

:clap

In a perfect world I think there would be little sand-colored rocks that could cover the holes for the crotch grabber poles.

Everyone is going to have something different in mind, especially when it comes to tatooine--might be a couple Jawas and droids (at which point stands aren't really necessary), or they might have Luke, Ben, a Sandtrooper (who does probably need a stand). Then some people like to display just one figure so they might want the grabber centered, some like to display two, three, or four. Anyway, definitely things to think about. I think having a few different sized rocks that could plug in or cover any unused spot would be ideal, but not sure if that type of thing is easily doable.

Yep, a full plate for a detolf. One that almost completely covers the glass save for a little bit showing around the edge. We just have so many quakes here in Oklahoma that even in a detolf I don't think I'd leave mine off a stand. I can see why many would though.

good points, might also look weird with a bunch of random rocks though haha. I think the best thing to do would figure out an easiest way to create the hole for the stands and then provide instructions on how people can create their own holes in their stands themselves exactly how they would like it. If they change their minds on the display layout later, they buy a new plate, hey returning customer! Cool.

I do think a display plate with a rock for luke to put his leg up on would be very cool though. I'd do three flat sand plates across for jawas, sandtroopers and tusken raiders, and a far right sand plat with rock for luke to stand on with obi behind him :hi5:

I see! Yeah if you have a shakey house definitely want to use posts then. I would do like I mentioned in my post above, that way you just figure out how it can be done, and save yourself the work, let people do it themselves and make the holes for the posts to attach to where they want it, you'll never be able to convincingly make enough options in a single stand that will satisfy everyone, unless you plan on multiple different stand post layouts which sounds like a nightmare for you. I would make the beautiful stands, and provide instructions on how to create the hole where you can attach a post to it.

and lets be honest guys, we all love projects for our figures, that's half the fun! If I were to decide to use stands, I'd enjoy being able to decide exactly where and add the post myself.

Yeah probably. :lol The one rock for Luke would be epic.

If it's easy enough to make the stand holes that would be the best option, letting people do it themselves.

That's true. It'd be hard to please everyone with the post positions. Momaw gave me a couple layouts that he'd like to see and we talked about plugs, and moveable sand drifts and rocks that could be used to cover unused post holes but either way it's a tricky display to do and do it so the majority find it useful.

Yes, a nightmare for sure. I'd be all for letting people drill their own post holes but unless you have a good forstner bit and a drill press I could see lots of plates getting ruined. It's not something I'd want to try and drill with a twist bit and cordless drill. I think the best way to make these is to offer a few configurations and also let customers submit a diagram for custom hole placement as well.

I'm just hoping I can make something work for the floppy Jawas. I don't want to struggle to get them posed only to have them fall at the slightest bump.

hmm, well you would know best for your plates. If you can offer plates pre-drilled with no holes, I'm in for those :) easy peezy

definitely consider the variant plate with the rock for luke to stand on, maybe it could be a separate rock you can place where you'd like? Or an option for one molded into the plate. That's cash money!
