It's still not a great design even if it is accurate. Plus it's not like it's out of the ordinary for Sideshow to take creative liberty with certain aspects of characters. You can get them to look decent but it takes more work than it should in my opinion. Honestly I should stop buying Sideshow figures as I don't think I've ever been completely satisfied with one and they always seem to fall short somehow. It's a shame as they release some decent things I want but I'm always left disappointed.

More than likely because that's the way the robes and hoods worked in the movie - every costume is the same way. Had they made them one piece the proverbial S would have hit the fan.

They had to make them as separate hoods otherwise there would be no way to do the two different hood wrapping styles (the "style your jawa" feature:lol.) It also makes sense for futzing and takes the pressure off SSC to deliver a hood "look" that looks great on every figure.

That being said, just due to the way you can't make fabric that is 1/6 the thickness of 1/1 fabric, in many cases you can't match the way a costume was really made - fett has all the layers and yet is a pretty skinny guy, a difficult look to get right in 1/6. So that makes it much harder to get the mini costume 100% screen accurate.

And I don't think people would have been upset - 90% of fans never knew they were separate hoods.

Some of these comments, it's like reading infomercial actors.

:lol :lol

Much easier for a sideshow mouthpiece to post a silly gif than it is to refute a couple of the huge flaws of the jawas.

That's nice honey. Stick em back in the box and return em to Sideshow then. :dunno

As I stated, the joint aren't firm, but they bodies aren't flopping around. They've been standing in the same spot since I took pics.

How about the hands? Care to comment on those? As I said earlier, there is a lot to like here, I'm going to keep the set. But the bad is really bad and detracts a lot from the set.

The big jawas pistol hand was a bit too open to hold the gun well, but run it under hot water, close it in a bit and then run cold over it. Gun now fits snug. A trick that works on lots of figure hands.

Yea, they aren't perfect, but they do look damn good.

I agree that they look okay but there are a lot of things that detract from them being great figures. That seems to be a recurring theme with Sideshow figures.

If someone happened to get a loose body that was an error that's one thing - but given the number of comments that's not the case here, even if the degree of looseness varies. Sideshow just seems to have issues with their bodies - even the Indy it seemed that nearly all the bodies had a fused right arm (due to accidental gluing at the factory.)

These are issues SSC just can't have happening at these over-$200 pricepoints. The fact is, I've had overly tight HT bodies, or HT muscle bodies that were a bit hindered in terms of articulation due to design, but I've yet to have a bad/loose HT body or seen a case of widespread loose bodies on a certain HT figure release - that really says a lot.

Quite a few of the SSC bodies I have (maybe two dozen) has some issue with it.

I know this is a new body, but bodies are an enduring problem for SSC, even if they are overall vastly improved over what SSC were - but those were $50-$150 figs, not $220-270 figs.

Hot water helps to return a distorted plastic part to its original shape but I've found if you're trying to change the shape of something, it does slowly return to the oroginal shape it was cast in. For tightening grip hands, I usually carefully make a tiny V cut inside the fingers with a scalpel and then put a dab of superglue and press the fingers inward.

I think everyone is in agreement they aren't perfect (and a pain in the *** on so many levels), but they're a fun figure.

One thing I've noticed - and I don't think anyone else has touched on it yet - is the seam in the middle of the hood.

I've got MYC's 1/4's, and like the film versions, there's no seam through the head/hood.

Kind of annoying :slap

I have had the Jawas since Monday and even though the bodies are loose the hands tend to fall out easily and fail to grip their weapons/items properly, I like them.

This weekend I will use superglue to tighten the joints and the wrist holes a bit. The only mod I have performed to date is wrap the heads with thin gaffer tape strips. I covered most of the eyes with the gaffer tape to achieve the ANH small Jawa eyes look.

Pic's please :)

Yeah, the Jawas in ROTJ have car headlamps for eyes but most of the ANH Jawas do have pretty tiny eyes - and indeed done with gaffer tape as mespendez has done.:clap

Nice work on the eyes! I'm curious to hear how well superglue on the joints will work. I'm guessing you plan to put a dab on the joint and smear it around evenly? Hope it doesn't lock it up completely.

What I do is put superglue within the joint and keep moving it until it dries. That allows for the glue to solidify but not make them stick. It creates more surface are and allows for more friction.

One thing to keep in mind is that the individual joking gap size will dictate how many layers of superglue will be needed in order to achieve a tight joint.

UTINNI!

Finally got a chance to spring these disgusting creatures and have a look...

They look great...soft goods very nice in hand...gear exceptionally well done. But...(and dang it, it's a big one)...the limp, unable to stand bodies are a huge fail!
The legs are so loose on the taller one that...well, once I'm through snapping shots like crazy with 'em (until the next desert trip anyway) I'm gonna have to decide on a pose and splint 'em up. I know some folks are saying they're not that bad, but...these are that bad. Damned sad since they look really good.
As others have already pointed out,, the stun gun is in that holster tight, so use care there...and the hands pop off real easy too and can't hold a thing.

Waited so long for these little guys...they look great but I wish the bodies were better. Ah well...seems like it's always something, eh?

Glad I got 'em though...and enjoying the mods and shots turning up in here already...looking good!

Have to agree with what's been said, but I think it should be restated again and again. They look great, but the bodies are utterly frustrating crap. I'm tempted to do a video review to really showcase that.

Even with those little stands they have trouble staying upright. What it ends up being is less of an action figure and more of a statue as you can't achieve multiple poses with the legs, but maybe one pose that keeps them upright. I think it's those hip joints that are the worst and causing all the problems. The arms aren't terrible.

I like the hoods but still don't like the tentacles. Also great mod on the lights above as they're a bit too big and way too bright. Plus the fact that the lights are in the back of the head is problematic as if you get a futz with the hood you have to ultimately then undo it to turn the lights off.

Save yourself the hassle on one of them and just have him sit down. Looks great that way anyhow.

My other new addition, fewer complaints on that one. :lol
