I tried to get a complete replacement and was told they would only send the dome because they couldn't guarantee the paint would be any better on the replacement unit.

Exactly! I'll take the thinner plastic and hinges that look better and more accurate over a chunky oversized parts done in the name of 'quality' any day. I'm specifically looking at the Tamashii 3PO and his huge pistons.
Each to their own, but I'm curious as to how fragile the SS 3PO will turn out to be and whether those nicely scaled pistons will present a similar

OK I know R2 is supposed to be weathered and a little beaten. But can someone tell me if that is what I am seeing. Or did I get an extremely bad one.
And I will say I am also not impressed with the packaging. Most of my parts were scattered all around inside the box.

Both. That fugly blob of silver next to the eye was done on purpose, but the other things are production defects. Remove the motivator and memory board and send the shell back for a rebuild.
Production defects? you said that these were going out exactly as Sideshow intended them to be? Jesus, you blow like the wind.

Has anyone with a bad R2 unit decided to strip the paint, sand the seems off the dome, fill any depressions in the plastic and repaint?
