This thing is not actually 'unpainted'. It's painted in a monochrome finish. I think "Unpainted Prototype" is their weird way of saying in the Star Wars universe, this is what the first version of an R2 astromech looked like before it's been given a designation. The darker panels are supposed to be raw metal, before it was painted blue for R2-D2.

You can pick up an R2 from ThinkGeek for 30% off using the code "pewpewpew".

Since R2 is $149.99 and the 30% off works for any order over $150.00, just throw in a pack of batteries for $1.99 and you are good to go!

How unoriginal Sideshow. You should make a chocolate version while you're at it. Get your money's worth from the moulds.

Your R2 is already flimsy as crap, had to get out the superglue the minute I unboxed it. Don't make more.

HT marketing.

If they were less than $100

This is a very good point. If they're going to be selling these for more than regular R2 without all of the accessories it's a rip off. Sell em at $100 and I'm sure people would buy more than one.

ugh dont really want to buy more SSC figures...but $115 shipped from thinkgeek is too good of a deal...

YES!! I am happy with it. Permanent wiring, repaint. Fixed the seams in the dome. Made it metal and added gloss and weathering. I am so happy I got the permanent wiring through the left leg this time instead of the center leg (which is easier). What do you think?

That's an incredible job, I just wish mine looked like that. Does anyone know how to remove the weathering and leave it white?

Thanks guys. Tom, you could try a nonaggressive airbrush cleaner fluid or some OOOO steel wool and very gently start rubbing
