I'm waiting for ck1 to start his own toy company and to get a license to SW and produce his own R2. That's the one I'm getting for sure.

Will wait for Hot Toys.

/Said the entire 1/6 community.:lol

I don't understand your guys complaints I'm looking forward to my little R2 next month. Tell you what I'll buy him and you can all still debate until eBay has them at $ 300 a pop and kick yourselves for not buying it when he was affordable.

Just cancelled my order. A shame. :gah:

I'll either wait until the mythical Hot Toys release or wait to hear more reports on the Sideshow R2.
Our Australian dollar isn't as great against the US dollar as it was and I don't want to be caught with horrendous shipping...

makes no sense that we have never seen a Sideshow head with paint apps as good as a figure from 2009 :huh

Something to keep in mind. . . the Chinese do not respect foreigners. . . or at the very least, the Chinese factory owners will NOT give foreign manufacturers the same quality they give their fellow Chinese manufacturers.

At my current job, part of our product line is display packaging and our buyer deals with China frequently, I've talked with him about it. He backs up what I've long suspected, that the factories are actively trying to screw you over. You ask the factory to send you a sample, and it's great, then you pay them thousands for the production and the product falls apart when you get it. I've read in other entrepreneur forums, and how to deal with China, and it's expected to haggle back and forth, and just walk away and make the factory chase after you to make the deal. Too many small US companies are begging to get their stuff made in China, and the factories are taking advantage. Budget Stark said it in one of his videos, the Chinese are racist. They just won't give foreigners the same quality.

I hate to see the prices Sideshow is charging now, and I won't pay it, I would if there were more accessories or if I felt there was some value there, but I understand what they go through as far as manufacturing goes. My experience tells me that even if Sideshow went to DID's factory or Hot Toys' factory, the resulting product wouldn't be of equivalent quality. I will anxiously await Rook's photos of Hoth Han, but I'll be amazed if Sideshow can match a Chinese manufacturer's quality. It will certainly be a first.

I'll probably cancel the exclusive & just go for the regular for $130. Need to see some production pics though. No reason to cancel him completely just yet, guys.

I'm keeping my R2 P.O. Will get this in-hand and if it looks great I will MERCILESSLY mock each and every single poster that said to cancel and that it looked cheap.:lecture:yess:

If it does look cheap in-hand... well, then I'll be disappointed.

And sell it on eBay. And wait for the HT one.

This is very interesting, and thanks for that write-up.

It's really a shame. This is a niche market, so I would think that it might be a little outside of products like shirts or shoes.

If what you're saying is true, then I actually feel bad for Sideshow.

Of course, there's an alternative. Manufacture them here at home (yes, I know, pipe dream and a $600 price tag).

you wont be disappointed...

...unless the production significantly differs.

I must be missing something. What is wrong with the R2 in those pictures? :dunno

Nothing :monkey3

My sister was with me and she wanted one based on the shop model.

I cancelled due to the shipping cost to Australia and am likely to get him from a local dealer.

I really like the look of the Sideshow R2 and we've waited so long for a decent 1/6 R2!

That is unlikely to be the shipping price - unless you have this directly from SSC CS?
