It's very clear part of sideshow's strategy is to make their products mainstream instead of a highly limited collectible. By having a 2000 ES it basically turns the reg into a store shelf product instead of a limited edition collectible, so anyone down the road who wants a pred can just walk in (figurative speaking) and pick it up.
As others said predator is a very popular toon with lasting appeal, their strategy is always to have a few predator for sale when people wants it, same goes for the highly popular stormtrooper pf. It's not a bad business plan, and they do have the exclusive edition to satisfy the collectors like us.
We have to keep in mind the freaks are just a small (but vocal)part of their business, most people who buys this stuff doesnt know the difference between a reg vs ex if the extra head walked in & hit them in the face...nor will they understand the inaccuracies or paint issues. All they will see is a cool predator and wants it or as a gift for someone.
