Wow, I hadn't noticed until just now how "wonky" the tubes look on the warrior's right side. They are lined up on the left side, but the way the head is cocked, the sculpt of the right side tubes is forced out causing them to end up out of alignment. Weird, no?

I still love this thing to no end...

I just hope they have one available for me.

I have a feeling they must keep some set number aside to cover breakages, etc. Even when my SSE diorama arrived broken, edition size of only 50, they still managed to get me a replacement. In each case of replacement for me the new piece came with the exact same numbering. This leads me to believe they have some manufactured pieces which are not numbered to replace the defects and broken ones for us.

And if I'm being totally honest, in both cases, the replacement looked loads better than the original shipment. Especially the SSE instance. Makes me think the previously unnumbered replacement pieces have been given more care by the factory and have been seen in person by at least one Sideshow rep. This is all my own conjecture of course. So who knows ozz, you may even receive a wonderfully glossed version as your replacement.

I don't think you have to worry about getting one though. :D

Yep, that's exactly what happens. Each product has a un-numbered contingency run which is manufactured at the same time as the numbered editions, and replacement pieces are pulled from it.

The only drawback of course is that the run is finite, and once it's depleted then the chance of getting a replacement is gone. Those customers buying items from waitlist conversions and on second chance offers are therefore far less likely to have a replacement option if there's any damage to their statue.

Through my dealer, I've had one thing that was still in stock be replaced by a totally different number.

I only needed one replacement direct through SS, and for that they sent me the same number.

I'm just sweating it because their return process means it takes a week for my broken one to go back, a week processing and then another week till I get it. :( I was SOOO looking forward to this day.

All I keep thinking about is WHO WOULD DO THIS?

Do the factory workers think they'd really "fool" somebody into thinking the toenail was there by just painting silver back further onto the foot? If it was cracked right off it'd be one thing. In this case, someone had to look at it, see it was broken, and then just blob paint at the end of it! :banghead

isn't that the person who had to pass it? You were asking who would do such a thing? I'm just wondering if that would be a method of them isolating your specific issue.

I had the exact same flaw with a Dinosauria piece recently. Sideshow couldn't offer a replacement as they had none left. (I'm sure you'll get a replacement Warrior Maquette though.) Amazing how these things get past 'Quality Control'. The result again of Sideshow having no staff on site at the factory.

And yes, the QC number allows Sideshow to refer the issue to a specific group, if not individual.

With your Dinosauria piece, was it something that you preordered right away and they sent it with their first shipments. Or was it an in stock item that sold out around the time you ordered it?

See, that's my biggest concern. That by the time I go through sending back the thing and soforth, they won't have a decent one for me (it doesn't help that it will take a week from whenever they contact my dealer back to ship from CT to CA, and I've heard people send things back to later find out they don't have a replacement).

It was a piece I got through Second Chance, which meant that the reserve allocation had already been exhausted by the time it was offered up for sale again. I'm sure that won't happen for a while yet with the Aliens Maquette, so you should be fine for a replacement. Remember that EU orders are still unshipped as yet, and FlexPay orders won't be shipping until June. Loads of time.

If they had no one on site looking at QC issues, we'd probably hear of far more problems, don't you think?
It's impossible to control for every single employee's behavior. There will always be a few that slip through the cracks.

I would say there more QC problems than we might think. That's why Sideshow always does an un-numbered run alongside the numbered editions - it's actually far cheaper to duplicate part of a run than it is to employ a staffer to live in HK and oversee production. The first time Sideshow get to see actual production quality is when a sample is sent to them for approval. After that it's in the hands of the production factory to oversee QC.

My Warrior finally turned up today - seriously epic statue, seriously. Love it.

Zero QC probs, only thing I could pick it on ( after 15 minutes of solid un-blinking scrutiny ) is a small silver paint mark on the underside of the tongue. Other than that minuscule fleck it seems damn near perfect. The gloss level looks fine to me, could be a bit shinier on the forehead though.

Man, is this thing BIG & heavy. I'll put up some pics later when the camera has charged up.

My dealer sent in the photos. We're waiting for a response now so I can get one without QC problems.

Anyone got pics of him next to the Aliens Queen maquette? I'd like to see how the two match-up sizewise.
