Here's some photos of mine.
I am underwhelmed with it. Next to the Predator maquette this is THE piece I have wanted in the last 15 years or so since I started collecting. Sideshow delivered on the Predator but not on this.
I think it is way too small, in the scale of the line it is supposed to sort of be a family to, and especially for the price. It really doesn't cut it next to any of the Alien/Predator pieces pictured with it size wise and the pose necessitates an elevated display to show the details of the Alien where the other Alien/Predator maquettes show up well at any display height. The pose worked on the diorama but not so well here. The pose might throw off the scale...but this IS supposed to be an Alien Warrior...and Sideshow should have stood this one up.
The statues paint has a lot more blue to it than the pictures show. It is quite a nice paint job, filled with speckles and swirls but not dark or black enough to capture the idea I have of the Alien from the movie.
The base is OK - again this was done better in the diorama.
Mine showed up with damage to the head with a couple of paint chips or flakes I'm not sure and light scratching up both sides of the skull :banghead
Hope the next Alien maquette is better than this one.

INFECDEAD, could you please post a closeup pic of the little "side toenails" on your piece? One of them kind of looks like mine.

Hey, does anyone else's feel like it could move forward and possibly fall easily? Mine feels like it could use one more "foot" on the bottom to keep it from leaning forward.

Hopefully my new one wont be as wobbly.

You're selling me on that Predalien, but the pricetag!

I got my Predalien maquette recently from seller on ebay with a best offer of $600 + shipping which I thought was reasonable. I think it's a cool piece. My Alien Warrior maquette shipped today so should have it soon.

I agree with everything you say, and your pics demonstrate your point very well. The Alien Warrior is a more iconic character than any of the others in the line up and yet it has the least 'wow factor'. That's a real shame.

The problem is that they allowed The Gore Group to sculpt it.

Which, in itself, is not a bad thing as they've done a stellar job on the smaller line of dios.

But, this sculpt is just WAY to similar to the small dio.

The Dog Alien Maquette is probably my favorite out of all three Alien maquettes easily. It's very impressive. I'd love to own one of those someday.

Wicked pics Infecdead, love the group shots. Congrats!!!!
Sorry you feel underwhelmed by it but maybe I would be to If I had
some of those other maquettes to compare it to...:D
Kick ASSSS collection bro.

Thank you for posting your honest opinions of the Warrior maquette.

I'm agreeable with all the points you have mentioned. The scale could have been slightly larger and more importantly, the pose should have been different. I feel that the chosen pose is very underwhelming and does not look aggressive enough, nor does it serve to highlight the detail on the alien warrior.

I have passed on this piece for the above-mentioned reasons...tho I have to say that the paint job on this is very well done.

Here's a photo for you mate, was it your statue that had the deformed toe earlier in the thread? It was on of the first things I looked for on mine. The toes on this are weird stumpy little things but look OK on mine. If you want another angle of a foot in particular give me a shout. Yeah it is pretty front heavy too, a slight bump and over it will go....
Cheers

Could you guys please confirm this is not normal looking paint on the skull of my maquette. There are 2 chips on the first photo along the lower pipe but there looks and feels to be scratches all along all of the raised sections on both sides of the skull especially on the ( ( ( ( ( and ) ) ) ) ) parts of the head. These are quite clear on the photos when blown up to full size.
Thanks for your help if you can check this out and let me know...

Ouch, sorry to see those INFECDEAD, that's a return for sure. (I normally get the scuffed and scratched up example, so they seem to have sent you mine by mistake!) The scuffs and scrapes along the side of the head look like fairly easy touch ups but the one on the front of the skull looks a nastier one. I'd get another from them.

Im positive SS has put this piece on some kind of fake waitlist. I did a test myself....I was able to have my waitlist convert for this piece 9 times in the span of 11 days:rolleyes:

Infecdead,

First off, great shots! Thanks for taking the time to take and post pics. I think the piece looks really good, though perhaps a tad expensive for the size.

Second, maybe I'm more finicky but at $800 plus shipping and international taxes, I'd want as close to a perfect paint job as possible. There appears to be enough imperfections on yours to warrant a return. I think you might be happier with a better paint job. I wonder what SS does with pieces which have problems, though not monumental, like these. Are they trashed, repaired, or simply sent out to the next fellow on the waitlist?

Third, is the piece that much in danger of being tipped over? Is this a general concern? For so expensive a piece, I'm surprised. I wonder if there is a way, save for using epoxy, to keep the piece more firmly in place.

Thanks again for posting pics. In all honestly, the more pics I see, the more I seem to want it. However, given how this piece doesn;t appear to be wholly loved by all, perhaps a deal on eBay may be possible... Time will tell.

Maybe it's the same piece being converted every time?
I would imagine you're cancelling each piece as it converts?

:D

Anyone??

Infecdead, I appreciate your pics. While they do look nubby, it seems like yours are normal whereas mine has a clear chip in it.

I'm sorry to hear about your paint rubs. Seriously, for this kinda money, the only thing we should have to worry about is how to pay for it.

:D

It usually takes 24 hours for it to convert every time I jump on the waitlist. I doubt its the same piece every time....the example above was just a recent time frame. I've been doing this for over a month+ its converted everytime:D
But I think its pretty obvious at this point that most of the "waitlists" SS tags certin items with is a total sham.

Great photos Sir :clap
love the shot with all the bad boys :rock

A very honest review too..
I guess my only real complaint is the price/size ratio...it should def. be bigger..I know the thing is crouching...but so is the alien 3 and it looks far bigger. Really sorry to see you got some chips too...are you going to send it back ?

It's the placement of the felt stoppers/feet. Their not at the correct place on the base, call it the the pivot point if you will. The statue still needs a fair amount of pushing until it moves over though.

I just added another felt stopper to the base at the pivot position between the stoppers that are already on there. I added another at the back too while I was at it. Very stable now.

You should be able to get almost identical stoppers at any hardware store.
