It's the placement of the felt stoppers/feet. Their not at the correct place on the base, call it the the pivot point if you will. The statue still needs a fair amount of pushing until it moves over though.

I just added another felt stopper to the base at the pivot position between the stoppers that are already on there. I added another at the back too while I was at it. Very stable now.

You should be able to get almost identical stoppers at any hardware store.

Good advice! I'm gonna pick those up.

I will chase this up tomorrow with sideshow it is up to them what happens with it I suppose but that head is past my pretty tolerant standard of ____ house, and to make it worse I already have a pending refund, but they need to stop sending me ____. 1/3 of the stuff I have gotten from them lately has had some sort of problem and I'm really over it. I will worry about it being front heavy later.

As a follow up on scale this is pretty much 1/4 scale - when I measure the legs from the heel to the knees they are close to the leg length of the Predator and Predalien Maquette.
The Cinemaquette Alien at 1/3 scale has a much longer head than the Aliens warrior. It is around the same size as the Alien 3 maquette.

Seems to me that most of the size of this one is taken up by the base and, yeah, it's crouching position also makes it look smaller than the others. I'd definitely want more Alien and less base for the money on this one. I was considering this, as I do think it's a nice piece. But for an all-around Alien collectible, I'll hold out for the original.

Damnit! I think I just found another QC problem.

On the little thin things coming off of the arms, do your pieces have these indentations about midway through?

One arm is has much deeper "digs" than the other. It almost looks like a fingernail mark that was painted over. What do you think?

The crappiest part is that SS apparently just sent my dealer a replacement body only. It's gonna be months before I finally get a piece that has $800 quality QC.

Ah, okay. It's like that on yours? That would be a major relief. I'm getting a temper because I can't wait to finally be able to enjoy this piece! :)

It looked like damage to me because it is much more faint on one of the arms. In fact, the indentation is really on one side on one of the arms.

I got mine the other day. I wanted to let it soak for a few days and see how it sits with me before I gave an opinion.

The statue is beautiful, and I'm very happy to have it!

Although, there are problems... Mine has the various tiny scuffs/scrapes (knee, shoulder, neck, arm..), a few tiny paint globs here and there (toenail, end of tail). And who knows what else since it's not really that easy to spot every detail on this thing

The reasons I'm keeping it in spite of these defects:

  • The defects are barely noticable, you really have to look for them to see them
  • I'm not convinced I would get one in better shape than this
  • I bought it from the LCS by slowly paying it off for 5 or 6 months. I think if I just dropped the $800 at once, I might feel a little differently for some reason :huh
  • Returning stuff at my LCS is a major ordeal (this is also one of the reasons this was my last pre-order there)
  • And the main reason - I love it! I get that "ooo aah" feeling when I look at it.

Here's a crappy pic of mine in a very temporary spot (just didn't have the heart to put him back in his box yet :lol)

Getting mine from Secret Compass which should arrive next week.:banana
I told the guys there about the QC issues and they said they would inspect it carefully before they send it.
I'd think I'd have a mental breakdown if I found anything wrong with the statue, since I paid just over $1000aus for this piece. It's also a long way from The States to replace or reissue another one.
I don't even want to think about it.:(

Ozz, you are going to drive yourself absolutely insane if you inspect your pieces that closely. You may even start to see things that aren't there. There is no such thing as a perfect piece. Everyone piece has imperfections.

I'm a collector like yourself. Believe me when I say that it'll hard to enjoy this hobby if you'll continue to set yourself up for these types of disappointments. For your own peace of mind, expect some imperfections, at least.

That being said, your piece should be returned because there it's clearly damaged.
I sympathize. Getting a flawed piece totally blows.

It's generally an awkward moment when a preordered piece at the LCS arrived leaving you feeling like you didn't get your money's worth. I've seen friendships take bizarre turns over the arrival of sloppy paint jobs. Sadly, Diamond doesn't consider a cheap and lousy paint job a good enough reason to return an item.

I finally got a chance to take some pics this afternoon, I would have taken a heap more but the mozzies started feasting... Man, I'm itchy right now!

Yeah, the paint is pretty complex. Lots of different colours mixed in there. I found it really hard to photograph inside, all my shots made it look black. They aren't the best pics, but you can see the variations in the paint job fairly well.

thanks for the pictures, i expect mine beginning of may and really hope the statue has no quality problems

Just arrived.
I have to say he is much bigger then I expected.
I have had the Dog Alien Maquette in the past and seeing other pictures, I feared he would be very small.

But that's not the case. He has a very nice size and in scale he fits perfectly next to the Predator.
When he would be standing up, he would be about the same size, a little smaller, like hey would be in 1:1.

I'm very happy with this great statue, the very best Alien piece out there imo (I don't collect busts, only full size statues).

Great pose, base, paint, size, detail, ...

Some pictures next to Lurtz and the Pred Maquette:
