Cool! Really great work here SilentSurfer...thanks for the BTS peek here...

Here's a couple of my own behind the scenes pics. You can see the sculpted forearms and necks here.

The eyes definitely have it! Really amazing.

Have to wonder why SS didn't deck out Dan with all of these accouterments (the neck, and especially the forearms) for their proto-photo shot. First impressions are important, and after such a fantastic run of figure releases (Hammerhead, Gammy, Yoda, Greedo & the Clones), this seemed a bit of a jolt.

I have a feeling that the regulars in here who are lucky enough to make the trek to SDCC and see these grouped together on display, properly fitted with all of the parts will come away with a better impression....

Having said that, I'm still not inclined to shell out $100. a pop to assemble this band....but that's just me. Cheers to those that do....and post pictures! :)

He is a very nice-looking figure, but the price makes me wish I was back in 2004, when figures like this were $30-40. :pigfly:

I may just stick with my Hasbro 6. Got the whole set for only $35 shipped on eBay a couple years ago! :D However, I will probably give in and buy the band stage if they make one, regardless of price, because I am a sucker for cool displays (and anything Cantina-related). My wife is still scratching her head that I spent about $300 just for 3 tables and 6 chairs LOL! :cuckoo:

I'm just really sad because I really wanted this set and the price is incredibly insane. I guess I'm just about done with 12" figures.

Wow, only three people in this whole thread are buying these?

I don't want to collect 12" like I have the Hasbro figures, especially with the increasing price, so I'll pass on these and I'll be selective on future announcements. I don't understand why these are dearer than Greedo or basic Clones.

The paint work and sculpting on the Bith look awesome, great job SilentSurfer, like seeing the behind the scenes pictures.

Ok knowing that SS has basically said they are in the Modal Nodes for at least five members, and given that given the general consensus that most people do not want Figrin due to his price or plain lack of interest, I have to wonder what Sideshow is going to do with the remaining members and unsold Figrins? From what I've read, most people who are buying Figrin have a problem with the price and I cannot see them forking out $400 or more to have the rest.

So I guess my question is, what is Sideshow gonna do?

Hopefully adjust the pricing on the future members so that we'll buy them.

They'll make a lower edition size and stay the course.

Edit - Then, in the future, something will happen to make FD a grail figure and all the extas that I am going to buy will be highly coveted by the masses...

or not.

That's my biggest problem with the figure. I don't really think it is worth 100 bucks, but I may fork it over for one. But I want the whole band and whatever the ES is Sideshow can times it by 4 or 5 and that should translate to a lower price imo.

they should adjust figrin's pricing to $70 and watch the sales go up.

At 70 bucks I'd bite and buy the whole band. It'd hurt, but I'd do it.

SS will have no reason to offer any further Bith. The "line" (the Bith line) will die like Indy offerings. There's nothing forcing SS to offer the entire band. All they get stuck with is proto instruments. They can still cut their losses with Figrin and get out of this.

That right there is exactly why this price is so ridiculous.

If SSC entices people to buy the first band member at a price we find reasonable ($70 seems to be in most people's comfort zone), they'll lock a lot of people into buying the subsequent releases (and the environment they teased). They'll make more money selling the entire band of 5 or 6 or 7 (depending on what you believe) at a lower margin than they will selling only Figrin D'an a higher margin. If no one buys D'an now, no one's going to buy future Bith members; not at $100 a pop, anyways.

SSC can still fix this. Adjust the price, sell the band as a set or figure something out b/c I think the message is we want the band, but not at that unreasonable price.

It will be interesting to see what happens with these, I could see Sideshow going ahead and releasing many of them in the hopes that enough interest in generated over time to get people to buy multiples.

I guess that with this particular figure you could have 2 different band members... so maybe they will release each figure with 2 instruments and get out a full band 2 at a time.

I'm sooooooooo glad I passed on the cantina environments. I'm probably gonna get bent over on the Sy Snoodles band to go with Jabba's throne and the Carbo Han deal, but damn if that ain't gonna be better than these guys at $100 a pop to match the cantina set-up.

I don't need these overpriced Bith figures to "complete" my cantina. I'm already happy with Hammerhead and Greedo. Make more cantina aliens and it's even more golden.
