Only for laughs.

They knew people would balk at the pricing when they made the decision.

Yeah, with the idea that they can always try to justify it to us as "when you make a limited product it has to be more expensive". The point I want to make sure people remember is that the edition size was TBD so thats a bunch of bullcrap. SSC would gladly make 10,000 if there was the demand. One of the ways to bolster demand is to actually make the price competitive. They are throwing this price out there to see if it sticks against the wall. If it does, then expect all your future products to be at least $100.

I hope fellow collectors don't bend over to pick up the soap here. If you do, prepare for the ramming.

TBH I've never felt ripped off by Jabba... it was a lot of scratch, but he was incredibly well done in terms of sculpt and paint and I've never once regretted paying retail for the whole shebang when it was first offered.

Yeah, I think for the level of detail, size, etc the Jabba setup as a whole has been a really solid deal.

I never thought I would say this... but I prefer the Hasbro version. :horror

I prefer the price... but in fairness they look like crap as is. If you factor in what repainting costs, a new body and better fitting clothes you're probably not going to fair much better on price for an upgraded custom.

I would have done it for $75.

I wouldn't. Still not worth it to me.

SS blew an opportunity to sell a ton of these by pricing them better.
Price them at $55 or even $59 and considerably more people would have tried to get the complete band or at least one figure to represent the species in their collections. As it is now, only the completists and/or Bith fanatics will spend over $100 (with shipping on this.)

Just spotted it at Alter Ego for $89. Better price but still over $100 shipped. Pass.

Okay, so here's the big question:

If you had $75 in reward points, would you use them and pay $25 for the figure

or

Keep the reward points and try your luck on the secondary market?

Choose one PLEASE! :panic:

3rd option: wait a year and get it for around $50-$60 on ebay. By then you'll know exactly who you want too, or you'll have moved on to something else and saved yourself some regret.

I've got all of the 1/6 so I know that I eventually want the entire band set up. Definitely not moving on to something else (except the next pre-order)...

:goodpost: Very sad. Easy pass.

I always consider partial use of Reward points to be a wasted opportunity (unless the amount was neglegible, like $5). Keep building points till it covers a full figure, there's my answer.

Good point. Either I'll break down and get it from Razor's Edge or just wait and get it cheaper down the line.

$100 is alot. i think i'd rather use that money for 5 MOTUC figures.

i'm probably not gonna be buying a lot of figures anymore if this is the way the pricing is going. personally i like getting a CC statement and it has no figure purchases for the month. it kinda feels good.

Figures no matter how basic will never be priced that cheaply again.

My beef is that SSC will think "hey, nobody wants such and such character".

Which is completely untrue. Star Wars fans will eat up these characters. Just don't insult our intelligence by pricing what should be a $70 figure at $100. I'm sorry, but the economy hasn't changed that much since 2008.

I was very prepared to pay $74.99 but yeah, when a currently clone with a lot more complex armor, etc. is made for $10.00 cheaper, I think they outpriced themselves--especially when outside retailers have them $10.00 cheaper right out of the chute...
