The belt rides too high on both figures, HT may look ever so slightly better, but it's not by much, certainly not as much as you'd expect from Hot Toys.

The belt is too tight to be lowered around the waist and the fabric is too short the spill over the belt. Mine is like that too and every pic I’ve seen of the SS looks the same. IMO the HT is an upgrade in that regard.

Had to go and take a look at my Maul, and you're right, the belt does sit a bit high. Had never paid attention to that, but it doesn't seem so noticeable on mine.

The belt does sit high on the SS. I tried to futz with it a little but, but there isn't a lot of wiggle room. It doesn't look too bad, but depending on how you have him posed, it definitely sticks out (as seen in the above comparison picture).

The HT overall does look good, and we all know it will have the better body and overall quality. I still think the SS edges the HT with proportions and in the head sculpt department. I still think the HT head sculpt resembles Bradley Cooper more than it resembles Ray Park.

I'll be looking out for some of the individual HT accessories (binoculars, cloak, and maybe the light saber) when they pop up on ebay.

I just love the skin that is just visible under his eyes. Just looks so realistic.

It's a detail true to Park in the movie and part of what makes the Sideshow figure feel more like Park in the film vs HT, HT has a very faint hint of flesh there but not enough so that when you look from far back you get the overall effect.

I think the main issue is the lack of “baggy” material. Sideshow tailored this a little more form-fitting, so the lower belt positions seems to lose a little of its effect.

The SideShow V2 Maul is definitely one of their best figures as far as sculpt goes, but having just received the Hot Toys maul i have to say he is far more accurate, although Ray/maul was thinner looking in the movie and thats what sideshow has going for it, youll notice in hand oppossed to in pictyures, the height is more accurate but he deosnt look as short and chubby so to speak, the one thing i liked about the SSC version was the way the material puffed out around the upper arms, but other than that he looks like a toy when standing next to the Hot Toys version, im not a huge Maul enthusiast and I have more then a handfull of SSC star wars figs mixed in with the collection, but this is not one that surpasses Hot Toys and I say this unbiasedly, the Hot Toys again is just so much more accuarete especially with the face tattoos.

i think the subtly look of SSC maul and simplicity make him look amazing but when standing next to one another and spending the time to go over the details there are too many that start to fall short in comparision.

Picked up the Hasbro 12” Maul cloak on the cheap (paid $8). It’s like new and a nice display option on this figure. The hood needs a bit of futzing to get it as close to screen accurate as possible, but it’s fun to have this display option:

Great gallery of shots, RogueRunner! And yes, that Hasbro cloak looks just fine.

While I am looking forward to getting the HT version, it doesn't take away what an excellent figure Sideshow produced here...

Great photo, JB. The shape of that head sculpt really can’t be beat by the HT, which is a bit too round. But both look like great figures with different pros and cons.

Decided to add a little depth and texturing to the head sculpt. Used a little Quick Shine to give the appearance of sweat. Still a work-in-progress:
