Its Star Wars. It doesnt matter that he is dead and not relevant anymore. So is Vader. He's still fairly popular. Lol

He actually isn't dead in official canon. He was bought back for the Clone Wars cartoon and is still out there. I don't know how disney would handle that since most casual fans didn't watch Clone Wars.

He does look boring as hell though next to Maul. The thing about Maul that people like about him is his face is very creative, and very badass looking. Kylo Ren... not so much. He might be one of the more boring looking SW villains, aside from Dooku who was just a regular looking old dude.

Well yeah thats what I mean. Im not sure a ton of people that saw Maul in Ep1 and thought he was ridiculously cool looking ever saw him in Clone Wars. To most people he is dead. Dude fell down a giant shaft. Lol

Clone Wars was just digging at the bottom of the well for any reason to bring back a character people liked, even though he only had like 2 lines in Ep1 lol. So clearly people like the guy because he looks super cool.

I was excited and ready to PO this figure until I saw everything it lacks... What a fail SSC!!!!:banghead

This figure really is $100 more than it should be. Not even a stand with it? That was my point that sideshow is really going downhill. Announcing figures 1.5+ years before they actually ship, and prices are bloated for what youre getting.

I was going to preorder but the price and the waning interest I will probably have by then makes it a wait and see.

I expect more Maul either in comics or Rebels by then though.

Hopefully Ren will be a much more interesting character than both Maul and Dooku. I like the Ren helmet, think it's pretty awesome in fact, but side-by-side the Maul figure is more interesting as his physique comes through more, Ren looks like a monk hiding in layers. Will be interesting to see if there are other looks for Ren. Again it'll all depend on the movie for me.

ANH Leia is a pretty boring character design, but she kicks ass in that role. Farmboy Luke people have mentioned as being boring, though I think the outfit is on par with his Jedi outfits, but black is cooler I guess, and plus he's kicking ass all over the place in Jedi.

I have a new love and respect for the old maul figure, its got some faults but it does the job, for a fraction of todays pricing situation. The new version can go drop down another shaft.

I don't dispute that. I do however dispute that by the same token they are unable to sell their own figures in their home market for similar to what HT sells their figures for in their home market since there is not 3rd party involved they should be cheaper and never in a million years should this bare bones release be $240!
Who knows, maybe Disney really screwed them on the license. Beyond that, I expect SSC's expenses operating in the US are higher than HT's operating in China (having no CS department must save them a ton). My assumption is that if we saw SSC's expenses, the prices would make sense in that context (i.e., I don't think they are being "greedy") but that doesn't make us any more likely to buy. Things like cutting the stands from this and the Jawa releases smack of a desperate move to cut costs, so I don't think 1:6 SW is looking too good for Sideshow going forward.

Wow, I didn't even notice it had no stand at my first pass....wow, is the hilt lined with gold leaf or something??

After seeing the pics from Comic con I was sure I would order this when it was released though for that price I have changed my mind. Great looking head and paint though it should have leather boots and far more accessories and an extra angry head sculpt for that kind of money.

Yeah its hard to say with Kylo. To me right now he's super boring looking. He's all black. To me it would be hard to make that character design even more dull if you tried. There's nothing at all to him.

I think people liked Maul because of that cool looking head design, and his 2-sided saber. I was ok with him not talking much in Ep1. I thought he was corny in clone wars. Way too dramatic and didnt fit what I thought about him, as a silent assassin. No talk, all action. In that show though they made him a little too over the top for my liking.

Yeah, that can't be a good sign. I know we have a couple bounty hunters coming and then probably Dengar. Curious what their direction will be after those figures are out. All signals seem to point to them going back to the PT, which will all be hard passes for me, but at these prices don't know where they would go.

I also think it's interesting that when they first previewed the TIE Pilot (July 2014) Hot Toys was just about to announce that they got the license. We're now approaching December 2015 for the release of that TIE Pilot. What's crazy is Hot Toys just announced the TFA TIE Pilot a month ago, and that's also slated now for a December 2015 release. :lol
