Does anyone still have their ANH Vader on the original un-modded body that can measure how tall it is? I want to say that closer to 14.25" seems right.

Sure - of course HT get things wrong, they're not infallible.

It's a stretch to talk in absolutes when a lot of this is subjective - but generally speaking, their mistakes & misfires don't stack up in quite the same way as SSC's do in my view.

One's mileage will vary in that regard obviously.. :lol

I hear ya. Trust me, I'm no fan of those early( and not so early) Sideshow monstrosities either. :lol But I think they've turned a corner with these last few releases. I don't think they stack up with the likes of HT and EB as far as paint goes yet but I sure hope they do, one day. As far as this here Vader, I like him I think. He looks better in some pics over others. Still, there isn't as much here that I thought I would be buying to upgrade my modified ANH version. We'll see.....

I think a lot of it is bad photography. the transformer-handy dude's pictures made Vader look like he had huge hasbro hands, where as in Dave's pics they look great. As far as the bulkiness I think that is a matter of taste.

People wanted Vader to be able to kneel down in supplication. The thinner body affords that. Try getting a KP02 to do that. :lol

I obviously can't judge the figure properly at this point, but I can say that Rebelscum's photos always make figures look like crappier than they do in hand.

Good, just bad photos then.:D

So who's going to swap the body yet again with the KP02? Haven't looked up the old Vader thread but is the process easy to do? Might just do the swap once the figure is in hand.

I preordered mine on Friday. I'm a new collector so this will be one of my more expensive purchases so far. By the looks of it, it looks worth it! :)

Being in Europe, I probably won't receive my Vader before most on here do, so somebody will inevitably try it out before me. If people doing the swap find it is worth it, I will give it a try as well, I have a KP02 here. I just want the best looking Vader I can achieve, so modding a body (or combining two different ones) would not be beyond me, either.

Why couldn't SS do something like this with the sculpt? Seems like a missed opportunity.

Yeah, additionally I wish Sideshow could have such crappy paint apps like this, but unfortunately they don't have 6 year olds do their paint apps. Damn you Sideshow for not being mnore like Medi! :gah:

:lol

OK, there are cool things about the Medi. The Shaw sculpt is a winner all the way. But the Vader mask looks goofy to me. I don't like it at all.

After recently seeing the anakin sculpt from the review and teaser video i like it a lot than when we got the first preview of it.
Only gripe I've still got with the figure is the baggy crutch, yes it will allow better leg articulation but i still think they could work the problem area a little more to make it less noticeable.

Perception is a funny thing. What I'm finding surprising with this release, personally, is the seeming large number of people that pre-ordered Vader based off the prototype pics who are now unhappy with the production piece. Doesn't make any sense to me at all. His suit is way baggier in those pics, helmet is way more off and suit itself super shiny ("liquorice suit"). It was terribly futzed and looks like ****. It's why so many held off until seeing how it turned out. What we got isn't perfect, but to my eyes better in every way that what's on SSC's site (excluding the video). Seriously, I don't get at all how someone could look at those proto pics, decide Vader looks 'great' or 'good enough', pre-order and then be complaining now. Hopefully someone can explain in what ways the POS prototype that got them to PO is somehow more accurate that what was produced.

Amen.

The production figure destroys the prototype in their product page. Maybe it is an in hand sort of thing. I love the figure… Just don't want to display it with other 1/6 scale figures. :)
