I took off about 1/4" off the top of the mask and rounded it off. I suppose I should have taken some shots before I glued the dome down.

Have we seen any pictures of the dome off the mask? I can't recall if that's supposed to be possible with the primary masked head sculpt. You're not re-purposing the extra mask/dome here are you - the one that fits on the display stand that's not supposed to fit on the figure?

Sideshow's new pictures on the product page are terrible. They're all photoshopped scenes and none of them clearly shows the figure nor is there an image showing all the accessories he comes with. Ugh.

Cool pics, King. Nice to hear your thoughts. I dig what you did to the helmet, might do the same. I can't wait to nab this guy. :rock

Oh, and welcome back. Everyone spoke horribly of you when you were gone...except for me. :D

Huh?!?!?

I removed the dome from the primary dome/mask. Ground down the top of the mask where the dome sits and then glued the dome back in place.

Does that answer your question?

I don't think so. Hamill 5'9", David Prowse 6'5" (but supposedly more like 6'4") The offset is about the same as the elevator scene in ESB. You can also see that taller actors like Billy Dee Williams (6') and Harrison Ford (6'1") are not much shorter than Helmeted Vader in ESB.

It's ok to be wrong, which you are. ;) it's rather obvious they are not on an even plane... Unless Hamill has an exceptionally loooooong tibia. :lol

*Edit* Just saw that people have already posted about this being Bob Anderson. D'oh!

Actually, I think that is the stuntman - Bob Anderson in the Vader costume. He's shorter than Prowse.

You guys and your height issues. :lol

King Darkness - I would LOVE to see a side by side photo of this ESB / ROTJ Vader standing next to your KP02 modded ANH Vader. I'd also love to see a pic of the spare ESB dome on the ANH mask. Would you be able to post some so we can get a good idea about how the new one compares to the modded ANH Vader height. If you could take the pic with both of them standing on the same surface (rather than being on a base), that would be great!

Thanks and SUPERB pics and work that you did to the dome. It definitely helps improve the overall appearance because SS definitely didn't get the dome position correct on their "out of the box" Vader.

That's ok, there's always a time to get schooled, and right now it's your time. ;)

This is the image we were talking about. Where can anyone's tibia be seen? :p Maybe (just MAYBE) you can argue the image is cut below Vader's knee. Looks like it's above Hamill's however.

You could have mentioned that we don't know if that's Prowse in the image or something else that would be more difficult to verify.

Just in case, this is a tibia:

The height Luke appears in that image is the height relative to Vader he appears in the movies. So in the end, as someone else said, it doesn't matter if he's wearing platform shoes and Vader is wearing flats, that's their intended height differential.

Neither Vader nor Prowse were giants by any stretch of the imagination, just like Hamill/Luke and the main cast weren't Hobitses. Or Jawas or Ugnaughts.

Bold move sanding Vader's head down. I'll really have to wait until he's in-hand before deciding if I have the heart to do it. No question it looks great, though, King.

Hope this is okay, had to put the on stands as the new Vader keeps wanting to tumble backwards. Even so, the are on even footing.

Thanks, I was getting at the fact that the primary sculpt doesn't have a removable dome, which you've confirmed. So you broke the original glue, made the mods and then re-glued. It's not at all obvious that mod was made, very good job. In the end it just makes the whole sculpt fit on the body better.

Both the side x side Vaders look great, the ANH on the right looks like he might be in better scale compared to the other figures in the line.

David Prowse was 6'6" - 6'7". In Costume, He would have been around 6'10".

That's not what any of the movies show. ;)

I do not believe that's Prowse. That would be the Stunt (Who's name escapes me) You can tell from the shorter robes, and cape.

Already long ago discussed. It's the fencing double Bob Anderson. I'm sure there were other people who did the stunts, he did the choreography and sword-play.

Hey King, quick question. Did you lower the helmet because of the height issue or because you felt that it looks better lowered like how people felt about the first ANH one?

I wanted it lowered. I don't like the dome hovering so far about his shoulders.

Welcome back from the dead!

Great pics, thankful review. I'm really glad to know the dome works for ANH Vader as that was my hope.

Thanks WG!

The dome fits a little wonky on the ANH "head" cause its so round, but you can get around it with a little tac or dremeling down the ANH bubble top so the dome fits more snug.
