a couple notes.....not sure what has been mentioned yet. i found a few things very interesting.

1) the full vader head/helmet i removed to start futzing, and i looked under the vader head, and there is a scared anakin head inside! you cant remove it tho, i found that very odd, but cool. sorry if that is old news for some.
2) futzing is the key with this guy. i removed the head and the shoulder armor and was able to straighten the suit, raise the chest box and position the inside robe. i know that is super obvious to some, but i rarely futz to the degree that i did with this guy and i am super thrilled with the results.

Did you calm him down bro?

I just sent my first ever "dissatisfied customer" type email. Im sure nothing will come of it but this is frustrating. I was charged over a week ago and still nothing. Never had issues with SS in the past and I do understand problems arise. But I don't like being kept in the dark when my money is involved. EIther tell me "we don't know" or give me a solid answer. When I'm told it's on the truck, that tells me it's been shipped. Doesn't seem to be the case so I was just lied to.

Like I said earlier in this thread. Something weird is going on when it comes to Vader. I got charged for this before Cobra Commander and Baroness. They both shipped and nothing about Vader yet. I emailed Sideshow 3 days ago and still no reply.

Maybe they pack in some free figure for the people left dangling instead of randomly giving multiple figures to the same person more than once like I have been reading about.

sideshow themselves say that you're better placed to get a response if you call them. 3 days and no reply email? Good gawd y'all, call in the emergency response units!

Loving my Vader very much but just ashamed to here some of you receiving QC issues with yours. Hope things get resolved.

DISCLAIMER!: I am in no suggesting anyone do this mod. I also in no way suggest this is the perfect Vader, more or less screen accurate than any other Vader out there, or better than the stock Vader. I did this to make it the best Vader FOR ME! Only posting upon request!!!!

okay now that you have insisted that everyone should do this mod........i have a few QUICK questions that might help others out who maybe aren't as handy at the whole modding biznezz,

1. i know you said you used a dremel, but could you tell us the model.
2. at what speed setting did you use for the cutting?
3. what was the grain of the cutting disk?
4. is the dremel cordless or corded?
5. were you using eye protection while dremeling & would you suggest others do so?
6. what color is the dremel?
7. do you like using a dremel because it's efficient or because chicks dig dudes with dremels?
8. were you wearing pants when this modification was done?
9. would you suggest that anyone could dremel with no pants or should that be left up to a professional?
10. do you think that using a chainsaw instead of a dremel would be overkill?
11. am i even spelling dremel correctly?
12. did you use a barrel sander tip for the smoothing down after using the cutting bit?
13. what was the grain of the barrel sander if in fact that was what you used?
14. and again at what speed was it used at?
15. where can you buy as dremel at anyway?
16. what is more valuable, a dremel or 5 ham sandwiches?
17. did you take a nap before or after you did the modification using the dremel?
18. have you ever just jumped on the top of a desk at work and screamed "DREMEL!!!!!!!!" all the while flapping your arms about?
19. dremel or drimmel or djrmill or drimul..........which spelling do you like best?
20. when does the Goldfish Pants world wide tour kick off & do we have enough band members yet?

if you will please answer all of the above questions and lets get on to safe & happy vader modding...........:)

For those of you with frayed capes: Definitely call SS. I just got my replacement cape and it's perfect. No dangling threads; none. Clean, sharp cut.

Good one. :rotfl :rotfl

Opened mine up tonight to find a broken (and missing) tusk on the face mask and a frayed cape in a lot of spots. Overall disappointed, but I know sideshow will make it right. Withholding judgement for now.

Exactly like mine. I don't even have a tusk to try and glue back on. Cape looks like it was chewed rather than cut. Inner robe is fine though. Emailed SS last night but haven't heard back yet. It would be awkward to have a phone conversation at work about Darth Vader, or a doll, and especially a doll of Darth Vader, so I'll give it a few days and see if they catch up on email.

Has anyone who has gotten a replacement cape and/or helmet had to send the defective one back first? Or do they do a cross ship type of arrangement? Or just take your word and send out the replacement and you keep the botched parts? I did attach good pics with my email so there's no suspicion that I'm making it up.

Sorry to hear about the tusks and capes; I will admit as soon as I opened mine, I checked for those specifically. SSC will make it right for those that received Vaders with issues

Mine is shipping out on Friday. Both MoS and Vader next week. :yess

So many broken tusks and frayed capes. By the time I get the figure they'll be all out of replacements. :lol

I looked back through the thread a bit so I apologize if this has been asked before but is it possible to get the arms to the folded arm look at the end of episode 3? Thanks in advance.

They will either send you a shipping label for return or ask for photo's to prove total destruction of the piece being replaced. They will ship the replacement straight away, but if they don't receive the defective part back or the photo's proving destruction, they will bill you for the replacement at about 75% of the cost of a full figure.

Have some patience. I emailed SS about my problem and it took about 4-5 days for them to respond. It then took 2-3 days for them to ship out a replacement piece.
