I've searched for photos of him before but never found a thing, so I was super hyped when I just found this shot with the old WWF art. :lol

I really didn't even know that was behind your username??I just figured your last name was Orton or something :lol

you are an accidental clairvoyant flosi........:lecture

Me too - this needs a lot of work...anyone going to SDCC? Please ask them why they can't do Vader justice?

Well, there's always hope that Hot Toys will do it justice about 6 years from now. :dunno

Is that just the ANH head on the new body?
Maybe they didn't have the reveal ready so they just slapped the old head on this one.

Problem on the helmet and the dome, it looks like the version ANH. These are the pictures of ESB or ROTJ version? The clips of the cape I'm confused also. This new Vader SSC must reach perfection I think.

I like him and am looking forward to picking him up, maybe even two for different displays.

I also would bother judging this too harshly, either, as it's obviously a thrown together proto just for SDCC display. No way would Sideshow go for such a simple display of Vader if this was the final prototype. They'd show him with all the accessories, plus the helmets disassembled and the face sculpt. People need to get a bit more imagination and common sense. Kinda reminds me of the Snowtrooper thread. As I once foretold, once everyone saw the E-Web in context of a display, all of a sudden it's a must-have instead of being an example of Sideshow gouging the defenseless collector. *shakes head in disappointment*

just hoping they improve the helmet,so it does look much better then the first one,but like you said, probably just fixed up for SDCC

Yeah, I just can't see them displaying the final prototype without accessories and the helmets to show off. Totally agree that they shouldn't just re-release the old Vader without improvement, btw, but way too early to even worry about that.

So far this is disappointing. However, it may look better at different angles and with some futzing. All the photos seem to be taken at a similar angle. One this is for sure though, the chest armor and shoulder bells are totally inaccurate. Which is amazing since there is a wealth of resources out there showing how they are supposed to look.

I don't know if I agree about the assumption that Sideshow just threw something together for the Con. It doesn't make sense to do so and I can't think of a precedent for doing so. Unfortunately, I also can't think of a time in which Sideshow made significant modifications to a figure after the initial unveiling. Hot Toys does it all the time but Sideshow doesn't (which irritates me). As such, the figure on display is very likely to be the one we will be getting.

I agree. I'm thinking, if anything, the changes will be for the worse. If this is only the prototype (most likely) and not a production piece, then I can't think of an instance where the production piece was better than the proto.

So are we sure this doesn't light up? It really looks like there is a slight haze around the green of the belt.

Crap, I hope they didn't paint in a light haze like the did with Galactus and all the orange lava effects on Vader and Sauron :lol
