People keep using that shot to establish how tall he is, but I reckon there's handpicked short troopers in that scene. Don't forget, it's the initial scene, introducing Vader, and he appears very large (as I suspect Lucas meant him to appear). Nowhere in the rest of the films does he appear that tall. When he's talking to other people (Boba Fett, Tarkin, other officers), he loses about 6 inches.

Establishing shot only, and remember, done in the days before video, so no one could freeze frame them.

Curious about the Hasbro suit. Please keep us updated.
I forgot to mention: The Hasbro suit has plenty of room to bulk up the arms, without losing a bit of mobility. I've read several posts saying that the new SS suit has sleeves which are just too slender to allow any filler space whatsoever.
I just might keep Darth 'Bro after all.

That's the entire point. That is how we are supposed to view him. They set it up that way from the very start.

WOW! Words alone can't express how awesome he is in hand! :yess:

My only gripes are, skinny arms, dome sits a little high (not huge concern) and a wee to tall.
For now I'm leaving him as is.... maybe I'll do some mods later down the road. :)

Pics later!!

When people complain about the costs about the figures think about guys like this that needlessly bother sideshow with "issues" like this. Someone has to be paid to reply to this. He probably demanded a replacement too.

maybe he's completely trolling...

He certainly fills the pants out better that's for sure. Still, the gloves look a tad big, that's the problem I have with the KP. How do they appear in hand? I'd love to see more pics if you care to take more. Preferably with other figures to show scale, maybe some closer pics of the gloves, shin guards etc. Thanks. :)

edit: I see the close up of the gloves, so nix that one.

Long ago I looked up the Hasbro suit for an alternative to the new one, as I didn't want to use the ANH since I may sell it after I get this. I thought it looked near perfect, but looked too small. So you say it can fit this big body they made for the new Vader plus room to give?

That scene doesn't establish Vader as towering though. Only wen you cherry pick a specific frame. The troopers in general are not very tall anywhere in the movie, certainly not as tall on average as Sideshow's figures (6') - you see so many other characters that are taller than the troopers. But that's not's not the point wight his scene anyway.

The point is the frame shown has Vader in the foreground and everyone else in the background - mostly in the deep background. And with camera placement and focal length adjustments it's going to exaggerate the perspective even more. The only frames that have been posted form this scene are the ones I posted, the only ones to show the correct scale where characters are on the same plane.

Absolute bull5h1t example:

I just wish we could stop talking about the character height in the movie, because that's already eel established, especially since his height is published with an official figure from Lucasfilm. The character in armor and helm is 202 cm tall. In 1/6 scale inches, that's 13.25.

The producers went to great lengths to make sure Vader was menacing, but HUMAN and especially in height and stature, not superhuman. The truth is plain as day:
