Received mines yesterday, both helmets have very noticeable scuffs and the solid full helmet piece has both tusks broken off. I have contacted sideshow, but I feel majorly angry at such poor quality control. These have definitely been packaged up like this, so someone just couldn't be bothered.

sorry to hear that. I got mine yesterday as well and mine turned out perfect

Fantastic photos guys.:clap

I don't have this guy in hand yet, but I'm going to put up the unpopular view. The more images I see, the more I have to say that while the figure has excellent production value, QC notwithstanding, it is off the mark in terms of accuracy almost as badly as the ANH version. But at a much higher price.

I have my fingers crossed that the production quality of the figure wins me over by such a large degree that I can overlook the not-insignificant flaws in character representation. A lot of people love to mod everything, but this I didn't buy this guy with the intentions of a kit bash, know what I mean? Though I'm ok with King's helmet mod, spending another $50-100 on parts isn't going to cut it.

You would think it would be worth it to make perfect packaging so as to avoid all the returns. It must cost them a fortune. This isn't the only figure either, it's just more or less quality problems. Obviously Sideshow can't help if Bandai or HT pack it like crap but this is just profit being thrown away.

Most all these figures, HT included, are innaccurate. I always thought they should stop using ' movie accurate' and start using 'movie inspired'.

You're right, and I hope no one misunderstood the opposite. I'm saddened by the "misses" on this figure, but it's by no means the most egregious offender. Hot Toys regularly miss the mark - and I don't think they would have necessarily done a better job on this figure either.

Nor I. I think maybe HT would have had a better body but there is no telling what other things they would have gotten wrong. Innaccuracies, and clear annoying missed opportunities aside, this actually turned out pretty awesome. I'm really looking forward to what I'll experience once in hand.

does anyone have a close up pic of the edges of a perfect cape? just wondering what it is supposed to look like. everything i see there seems to be fraying... trying to figure out whether its just a tiny jagged edge or a smooth cut on ones that are perfect?

If your cape is frayed it'll be jagged cut edges and all messed up. My cape is perfect since it's smooth.

I am due to get Vader on Friday and I can't wait to see him in hand. I have the ANH version and I am looking forward to in hand comparisons. The pictures in this thread look awesome an it looks like sideshow have improved over the years. Nothing will ever make everyone happy and I agree that all of the figures should say they are inspired since it is still an interpretation of the character. Either way I will be happy with him even if I have to do some minor mods.

It sucks that some are getting frayed capes.:(

It really does I think I'm one of the lucky ones with no problems at all except one peg in the fisted hand broke but with that I still can use the hand by getting another black peg. So Perfection over here just bums me out to hear all the problems some people are receiving with there Vader. :(

Basically if your cape looks like mine, it's not right! :lol

I thought it looked near perfect, but looked too small. So you say it can fit this big body they made for the new Vader plus room to give?
I don't have my new SS Vader in hand yet, so I can't say if the Hasbro suit is too big or too small for the entire body yet.
I CAN say that the sleeves have plenty of room to bulk-up the new slender SS arms, and the thighs too, if the SS legs are too thin.
The height of the Hasbro Talking Vader is 13 and 3/8 inches, helmet included; 11 inches up to the base of the neck. Shoulders are broad, and the body is pretty bulky overall. I'm pretty confident it will fit the SS body nicely, with room to add some muscle.

Question: Does anyone have an exact height measurement of the new SS Vader out of the box?
(a measurement up to the base of the neck would be helpful too)

Finally got my Vader!!! :rock!!!
It's pretty awesome, but I still don't understand how they cannot get the dome right… even though it's much better than the ANH one, it's crazy how the Hasbro one is still much better IMO!
Other than that, my only gripes are the body/height and the jumpsuit arms…
I shall mod this guy too, but overall, a great figure.
