Looks bad. PASS, I'll wait for the Hot Toys DX version of Darth Vader . . .

in the case of Vader, SST has had years since the last 1:6 version to get the helmet right... we weren't exactly quiet about the last one...

Ya' know what gang... These figures just ain't worth the prices they're asking us to pay anymore. Futzing or not!

For such a visually dependent company, SSC sure drops the ball on their figures and photography.

Does anyone in their art department stand back and actually look at this stuff? Anyone with eyes would have seen how off Vader looks.

It's odd how they can get something so right (Tusken Raider is SPOT ON) and yet get Vader wrong. Then again, has Sideshow EVER gotten Vader bang on? Even that life size version they had at SDCC this year looked off.

Bottom line the crap picture is for "****s and giggles"! It is in the same style as Hot Toys!!

Put out a crappy picture and sit back and read the flow !! Hell ....I would do the same!

Jesus Christ! Can someone take 5 ****ing minutes to futz and pose the figure properly? At least make an effort to make the ****ing thing look good??? So help me, it looks as if a 4 year old boy was told to stand the figure up before they shot that photo.

i wonder if there is an opening for a professional futzer at sideshow........because there certainly is a need for one..........:lol

Bad photo, but hardly indicative of a bad figure. At least, not yet.

I think Lord Vader left his dome in the dryer too long.... :monkey3

I think the lighting on the helmet isn't helping. The hot white light on the outer edges of the dome is making it appear smaller/narrower than what it is.

Amazing how badly futzed it is - this is THE pic that needed to scream "this is vader!" and it doesn't. Awkwardly posed, futzed and lit, head not on right (and almost looking matte) and some lens distortion to boot, making the head look small...

SSC has quickly gone from a company that makes $40-60 figures to a company that makes $120-200 figures. So they need to lift their game on the pics to reflect that. Badly futzed pics, with lighting off in many ways is not a way to sell their product.

The e-web pics were so dark and contrasty most of the detail was lost, not revealed until the SDCC floor - I had passed on the piece based on their pics, then was amazed at what the product actually looked like.

Regardless, I'm really excited for this Vader.

Funny thing is they can take good photos... they don't always, but sometimes they can take very flattering images of their figures. Definitely not the case here as this looks like ass :lol

YEP it's a conspiracy to start a buzz about vader lol ,but vader doesnt need that he already legendary and will be bought he looked good at comic con. Just hope not priced too high.

Agreed, they nailed the Raider! And those promo photos made me want that figure. This Vader photo gives me the feeling of another Boba. :pfft:

I'm not an OCD freak, but the previous Vader, I modded the torso to make him a little shorter, changed the dome, cape and inner robe... And I know it had plenty of other inaccuracies but those didn't bother me as much.
If the figure looks good, I really don't care if there are certain creative liberties taken... but this guy doesn't look good... It didn't look good either during SDCC, but I was hoping they would at least fix the dome.. :monkey2

Looks bad, Medicom is still king of Vader IMO.

As much as I loved my Medi Vader... it's not that great either...:cuckoo:

The Medi and the SS both have flaws. It's basically pick your poison till HT ever does it. (I just think the medi looks like something more off the screen)

the best Vader helmets, hard parts sculpts are coming out of Kotobukiya these days -- unfortunately they don't do the multi media 1/6 figures...even if the poses are weird, the helmets in 1/7 or 1/10 LOOK LIKE VADER...which is more than I can say for anything SS made in 1/6 - or 1/4...

I don't see what could be so difficult -- they are pros and they've done great work on other things, but Vader they can't seem to nail...there are references galore -- other toys and sculpts out there that are accessible...I have difficulty with the idea that Kotobukiya or Taito have the monopoly on decent vader sculpts -- heck, my "Pumpkin Parts" from Target have a better vader likeness in the helmet...
