If you take a pair of scissors and cut the zipper along the black cloth behind the teeth you can pull the whole thing out of the jacket seam very easily.

Looks good, but i still think that german officers boots look to bulky at the tip and all wrong.

Yeah, they have improved those DID boots but I don't think they are great for the ultra-slim type high boots you see throughout the SW universe (everyone seems to wear them.) The fabric construction still makes them a bit bulky and the crease/s too prominent. I love the feel of them and the fact they are real leather for the "quality high-end figure vibe" but the sculpted ones still look a little cleaner and slimmer.

They do look great for the looser boots though - I have a pair on my Death Star Trooper and they look nice.

I have mentioned many times that the DID boots DO deteriorate (black coating peels off the fabric) after a couple of years, just FYI.

I might hit those boots with a coat of matte black. Might help sell them, although I don't know what they look like in-hand.

Yeah, matte black (with a few shiny spots left here and there) along with some "edge of leather" and metal color on the sole/heel areas would really elevate the sculpted plastic/rubber boots to look very realistic. It's the uniform shiny finish and all-black aspect that makes them look a bit toyish.

People have been criticizing the Han and Luke Hoth boots for looking rubbery/toyish but with a lot of matte clear (along with a little light sanding and re-application to give a "fabric-look" surface) plus some light weathering they would look like shrunken down full size boots. It's the cleanness, smoothness and the sheen that's making it toy-like, not the sculpt.

When you say "whole thing", do you mean the strip of material that the zipper was originally sewn onto? How do you remove it from the jacket without undoing the stitching?

Yes the black strip. Once I cut the length of the strip behind the teeth, the threads are cut so it just pulled right out. There may be a few loose threads here and there put they easily pull right out. It's a very clean job. Took me a whole 5 minutes to do.

Ended up choosing perception over reality for this guy, hopefully ship out tomorrow and here in time for my birthday which my daughter is buying luke for me :)

I've had three pairs of DiD's pleather lace-up boots for years which are still perfect.

A fourth pair did start to peel and break, but only because I got the feet stuck in them.

That's why I elected not to put any feet inside the officer boots.

Yeah I've never had a problem with DiD boots deteriorating either. I guess it's like Hot Toys' ED-209. Some rot and some don't.

I've never had a problem with the pleather lace-ups either. Maybe the larger surface area that bends creates an issue with the longer boots, or maybe I just got a couple of bad pairs. Pixelpiper claims his Hasbro Walrusman coat hasn't deteriorated whereas every other one I've seen has gone or starting to go, so I guess you can get lucky as well as unlucky.

Again, even if the long boots go bad, you can salvage restore them, it's just a bit of a pain.

Yes, there doesn't always seem to be a consistent pattern of decay.

When I sold Walrusman last year his jacket was still in perfect condition. Got rid of Zuckuss recently and his robes were also perfect.

Thanks. The body is just one of those generic narrow shoulder ones. The boots are the DID ones we were just talking about, the holster is an extra Hoth holster that I bought, and I made a new wider regular belt for him as well. The only thing that is actually from the old Bespin figure are the pants (and those I would really love to dye darker, if possible).

Alright finally got around to doing a review on Han. Again, thanks to UT for sending this guy my way! I can't thank him enough! Best figure Sideshow has done in a while. It has it's flaws but overall I'm very impressed. Enjoy!

I've heard that the tone of this thread changed because of the new code of conduct. Only problem with that is, the majority of people started liking this figure before that happened. I can only assuming that going forward, the CoC will be the new scapegoat for villainizing satisfied customers.

do you remember the name of those boots or links to where you got those

Han's Bespin coat was gray. You can read about it in the new SW Original Trilogy Costumes book by Brandon Alinger.

That damn book rocked my world. I bought it to get the final word on the Hoth coat, then flipped the page to find out that the Bespin jacket was gray, not blue. :horror

I got a big kick out of the three or four pages dedicated to Slave Leia's outfit. . . with how many people dress up as her, I thought it was pretty well documented at this point. I didn't think it needed "that" much space dedicated to it. After all, it doesn't have much to it, how could it really take up that much space?? :wink1:

Well it IS a pretty iconic outfit. ;)
