Re: Sideshow PF Jack Sparrow In Progress

He does look just a tad off but I am sure there are pictures from the movie where Depp doesn't even look like Depp so its close enough for me.

Re: Sideshow PF Jack Sparrow In Progress

Jack Sparrow is tricky. I find even on the best face sculpts, the hair being solid material and not actual hairs can throw off the look of the face, or where his hair falls and how it covers his cheeks.

Re: Sideshow PF Jack Sparrow In Progress

Looking at the hand again, the wristband really does make it convienent for a swap out hand there.

Re: Sideshow PF Jack Sparrow In Progress

I love it, I think the likeness concerns are the lighter shade of his hair and the "eyeliner" for lack of a better term; darken both and this looks like a real winner!

Re: Sideshow PF Jack Sparrow In Progress

Part of the likeness issue with this is a common flaw to most Jack Sparrow products. Everyone paints Johnny Depp's brown eyes on the figure. However, between the film effects and the sunglass contacts he wore, you hardly ever see the color in his eyes, between the "eye liner" and the contacts, his iris looks very black and the whites look very bright in contrast. Painting his eyes with color makes them look lighter and wrong.

Here's a cropping with the iris blackened and the whites brightened just a bit.

Re: Sideshow PF Jack Sparrow In Progress

It doesn't help too much with the likeness for me. Its still off. However its not a bad likeness by any stretch. It's certainly good enough that I would like to buy it.

Re: Sideshow PF Jack Sparrow In Progress

I was so looking forward to a Jack PF, but now i think ill just stick to my cinemaquette. This PF looks nothing like Johnny Depp to me. Looks almost 'toonish'
I wander who sculpted it.

Re: Sideshow PF Jack Sparrow In Progress

I agree with most, something about the likeness is off here. It's OK, but certainly not on par with the tremendous likenesses found on many of SS's previous PF's. I'll have to see more pic's.......

Re: Sideshow PF Jack Sparrow In Progress

Any guesses on the cost? I'd say at least Blackbeard range and probably even more for the license... maybe $450?

Re: Sideshow PF Jack Sparrow In Progress

I would pay that, if that's what it takes. (Just don't tell Sideshow I said that.) I know that we're supposedly getting a nice base--and nice bases don't grow on trees.

Thats why I figure guesses need to start at $400. The cost is the only thing that I am worried about with this one.

Re: Sideshow PF Jack Sparrow In Progress

In person the sculpt screams Depp, and the base is frickin' cool. Definitely one of my favorite PFs EVER!
