and so it begins, a game of note passing between me and the lazy fedex ******* who claims he can never find my house
Finally opened him up. Basically the goggled head is a non-issue. That wonky Frankenhead seems to be distorted in pics as in person, it's not noticeable. Other than that a few things I haven't yet seen mentioned yet, the hands are done in a softer material so it's easier to grip items and the knees are finally perfected. No more of the "damn, am I gonna break this?" stiff rubber knees. Swapped him to the Commando sweater and tucked it in. Definitely recommend it to those who want a more classic SE. I'll probably leave the body since the arms don't look near as ridiculous as I thought they would.
Timber, on the other hand, is a waste. He barely holds himself up and the articulation makes zero sense, since you really can't get more than a couple poses out of him. They should've gone with a polystone wolf and just included a swapout head.
Also, important for those not taking off the ski jacket. Be mindful of the shirt beneath. When I stripped him down to swap to the Commando sweater, the sleeves of the shirt had been twisted into the shoulder joints I'm guessing while they put the coat on at the factory. So if you guys aren't paying attention, it's very possible you could rip the sleeves right off the torso and wind up with them tangled in the joints.
Received my SE 2.0 yesterday and and a great time picking just how I want to gear him up. Definitely need to echo the talk that the figure (and the heads) look great in person. The visor head almost feels like it was included specifically to replace the goofy looking one from the first version they did, and it looks super nice there. I've been waiting a while for a replacement body that I like for the original too, and I think I may buy 2nd body of ebay from this figure just for that purpose, if only for the sweet and totally cool inclusion of the tattoo.
1. Remove Snake Eyes and Timber dolls from box.
2. put something in box to give it some weight
3. ???
4. Profit
Don't have this figure (yet), but from the pics posted here, I still like the original fabric head (sans the over-sized visor, of course). I know Sideshow provided the visor head for continuity (as far as the other masked heads in this line after Snakes), but the new head sculpt's look on the OG Snakes body is kind of jarring for me. Maybe I'll change my mind when I finally get it in hand.
Two questions:
1) Does this version have the long neck joint? In some of the pics, Snake Eyes looks like he suffer's from the "giraffe neck" syndrome. If so, he may look better switched to the shorter neck joint (a la the Cobra Viper before him).
2) Has anyone switch this body to the V1 Snake's gear? If so, how does it look? Like many, I have my V1 on a muscle body, but when I finally get V2, I want to have continuity as far as body size.
Is it just me or is there a select group of people who seem to be over compensating with the Snake Eyes praise?
This is such an awesome figure.
Could stare at it for hours.
Definitely going to buy another after Christmas.
Hell I might even try to corner the market.
