Well ____. I thought this was my jumping in point.

Have to agree... while this one shouldn't be affected by lackluster paint work; no way Sideshow has proven they are competition at the same price point (or more) than Hot Toys.
Comparing what you get here for $200 to a figure like Captain America or Thor for less makes this look like a joke.
I guess we are close to April Fools
1/6 wise, they can't compare to a lot of companies: enter bay, toys city, TTL, soldier story, playhouse, DAM, art figures ... list goes on and on. But hey, they make some kick ass statues.
What are the chances that SSC will tweak (a lot of tweaking) this figure after reading all the disappointment here and on other forums?

It's possible they might tweak it... but generally they don't seem as receptive as others.
Sideshow's greatest strength (in terms of 1/6) is the ability to get licenses like SW and GI-Joe; but in terms of final product they really are behind just about everyone else.
I guess there is hope that Rock N Roll will be some quantum leap forward in quality... but I have a feeling a new style body will end up being problematic (for one reason or another) and the paintwork will continue to underwhelm.
I actually disagree with this. They're more consistent with prototype to end product than Enterbay and they don't charge $300 a pop (yet). And other releases like the Viper easily stand up to the rest with the exception of DiD and their head paints.
It's only safe to assume that the paint aps will be a notch or two below the proto pics...
It's only safe to assume that the paint aps will be a notch or two below the proto pics... I mean, it's not as if they have 50 Nathans somewhere in China painting away. At a certain point it becomes somewhat unfair to show us these fantastic prototypes only to give us something that looks light years different in hand... As for the bodies I couldn't agree more. It looks as if there's something odd about the elbow joints.
Consistent with prototype to end product? With sideshow, it's either you get something awesome at the end (viper) or you get crap back (dusty). Or you get an occasional bald spot (hawk).
If you don't mind spending a bit more to get him looking right, it's not a bad place to start.
I believe the phrase I used was "more consistent." With the exception of 2 Star Wars figures, I've yet to see a product come out of Sideshow that looks as glaringly poor as the gap between EB's proto and production Lee figures. And EB charges near double what Sideshow does.
My biggest issue outside the giraffe neck is the little pinhead which I don't know how you'd fix.

For everybody complaining who already owns the first SE, just sell yours on ebay for $200-250+, get the new and improved SE with Timber, and pocket the change. I don't get why anyone would keep the first version when you can have the second plus some extra cash to boot.
But he ain't new and improved,
Well, let's be honest. It's not as if there's really that much to ____ up here as far as paints go, though.
