I use these to light up my 1:1 Stormie and EFX TIE Fighter. They work great

post a pic jkno! I need some lighting for the figures I'm displaying on top of my detolf, but I'm worried they might be TOO bright. I just need some ambient light to shine on the guys I have standing up there, which is basically jabba's palace guys, so yeah not too bright just a little bit of light.

You can rotate them on the base or have them vertical

On my RS Stormtrooper:

And a couple black stixx on the TIE pilot and EFX TIE Fighter:

And on Elm Studios/Cyberman Emperor (vertical)

You can also get Osram DOT-it Vario I use them for other parts of the collection - see a black one under the Emperor and the Stormie helmets

Having grown up reading and watching everything I could about WW2 I had to chime in here and say the Biker Scout sniper rifle is based off the German MG-42 Machine Gun. They look similar except the MG-42 (foreground) has a squared off barrel as opposed to the MG-34 (background) has a rounded one:

Here a picture of the one used in Battlefront with the squared off barrel:

Sideshow did a good job of replicating it:

There's a lot of MG-42 machine guns on ebay right now, just be careful to make sure it has the squared off barrel, there's at least one listing that is a MG-34 and not an MG-42. There's also one that is missing the barrel cover with the oblong vents. Look carefully. Here's a Chinese seller that has 3 available now:

The exclusive rifle actually looks like it uses the barrel of the MG42 attached to the receiver/butt stock section of an FG42.

Which seems to be the way the Battlefront gun is, although I've seen pictures with a stock closer to the MG-42, so who knows about that. You can drive yourself crazy with this stuff sometimes. :lol

Dengar uses a MG-42, and MG-34 was used by Falcon Stormtrooper, Han in disguise and Sandtroopers.

Thanks jkno, I know the MG-42 was used by someone in the movies, but I couldn't remember who. One of the things I like about the SW movies was all the WW2 guns and other things they modified to use in the movies.

MG-15, MG-34, MG-42, Lewis, Sterling Mk4 (and MGC replicas in ROTJ), Mauser C96, Webley flare gun, Margolin, etc. etc.

Yeah, when I sold my SSC Scout, I pulled together a custom version of the rifle doing just that (FG 42's are tougher to find though) and frankly, it looks better than the SSC EX rifle because you can see into/through the MG42 barrel slots (the SSC has no depth in those areas.)

My current rifle on display is a cast of the stock end of the SSC EX but with a MG 42 barrel added. It looks so much more like a real wepaon than the original SSC barrel. Not sure why they sculpted the slots so shallow, but many of SSC's weapons (such as their E-11) don't have cooling holes/slots as see-through like HT does.

The FG 42 seems to have also been the basis that Sideshow used for their Leia Boussh EX weapon (though it's heavily modded.)

Dengar does use the MG 42 onscreen (despite the MG 34 he holds in the publicity pics,) but the MG 42 stock is almost completely cut off, a detail that unfortunately Sideshow didn't notice for their upcoming Dengar fig. Their fig's weapon still has the full stock.

I've got a couple of Dragon MG-42's and I could modify one, but it's the greebling that really makes it a SW blaster which would be lacking from the WWII versions. Aside from making up my own greebling and sticking it on there, right now the stock HT blaster rifles from the Sandtrooper and BF Shocktrooper are ready made SW blasters that you can just grab and throw on the figure. I'm just hoping that someday soon HT does a Battle Front Scout and gives him a proper sniper rifle that I can get parted out to complete my SSC Scout.

This is the (still yet to be weathered with gunmetal) sniper rifle I made out of 50% cast of the SSC EX rifle, and 50% out of a cheapo (like $5 shipped) MG 42 kit from eBay:

I have an FG 42 and another MG 42 ready to do a second rifle to mount on the speeder bike.

I might try what you did Talibane. I have an extra FG42 for another scout and I bought an MG42 to use with one of my Death Troopers, but I might not go through with that in favor of what you did.

:clap Nice. How are the Sideshow figures compared to Hot Toys? Is Hot Toys going to eventually make this figure?

I really hope so. I just don't like how the pouches look cleaner than the rest of the figure for SSC. Also, with just that noisy cricket pistol for weapons, no way I am spending money to get that.

IMHO, in hand it looks better than some of the pictures others have posted. I agree the clothing could look a bit dirtier for realism but overall very pleased with how he looks. If you wanted a more dirtier look you could always use weathering chalks. My only wish is if I had picked him up when they were offering the sniper rifle. I'm sure SS will eventually put it up with Free Shipping and couple that with a $25 discount, it would definitely be worth it.

I agree, despite the slight inaccuracies of the helmet and cleaner looking white cloth (It is weathered but only slightly) I love mine and would definitely pick up another if SSC offered free shipping and a $25 or better discount.
