I wonder what material is the exclusive bike specification card made of?

Since it's labeled as card instead of plate. Makes me wonder could this be made from cardboard instead of something metallic.

could this be made from cardboard instead of metal.

It's actually rice paper. But it's been bronzed. And then coated in pewter. Then buffed and lacquered.

Personally I really dislike plaques and other similar flourishes with this line of collectibles. That's completely missing the point of why many of us collect 1/6 posable figures.

This I have to agree with you. If I do decide to get the exclusive edition, I did be displaying the plague as an independent item.

It's currently 2014. 2014-2012 = 2. :)

Well there's two way you are wrong:

1) the Scout is going to be built in 2015 -- we'll know for sure on its est delivery.

or

2) 2012 is 1 year, 2013 is year 2, 2014 is year 3. :D

You want to keep playing this, I got all night? I know you do.

Damn, you might as well say 31 because Jedi was released in 1983. Wait, 32, because it was filmed in 82. But damn, principle photography likely started in 81, so that's 33.

I just had sex 30 minutes ago and just came down to turn off the lights. I'm sleepy now.

^^^^ :lol

I'm still sticking with the 3 -- not because of my twisted math -- but because I think they are making 2015 pricing in anticipation of costs when they actually make these Troopers next year.

It will be around 2 1/2 years between the release of the snowtrooper (Feb/Mar '13) and the release of the Scout Trooper (likely around July/Aug '15.)

Seems like we'll be seeing more of that new (patented) figure base:

"Displayed with the modular forest terrain Scene Stealer Base Accessory*, or piloting the Sixth Scale Speeder Bike, these loyal scouts are ready to be assigned to their post.

*Patent pending."

Manufacturing costs are definitely way up, but I think your statement "the 1/6th market has shown that it can support a higher price point" is likely the primary driver for the higher prices.

A higher price point is why wages have risen. Sounds a lot like driving horses with carts to say that prices rise because wages do.

Hey all, new guy to 1/6 Star Wars collecting here. Currently, I have SS ROTJ Darth Vader, Proto Boba and plan on getting R2D2, C3PO and the Scout Trooper and Speeder Bike. My question is this though; should I bother trying to go back and getting the various Sandtroopers, Snowtroopers and Stormtroopers from SS, OR would you veterans suggest that I just wait on Hot Toys to eventually put them out? In other words, is it worth paying the aftermarket prices for the SS figures or should I just roll-the-dice and wait?

just wait on Hot Toys to eventually put them out?

That's one long wait you're looking at. Chances are, you'll be out of this hobby by that point.

Hot Toys is likely to do major characters from the OT -- like Vader, Stormtrooper, Han Solo, Chewbacca (hopefully) -- but not so likely to do Sandtroopers, Snowtroopers, Greedo, etc. There's just too many to cover, especially when you have a new movie next year and resources will be diverted.

$30 more than I'd like for the figure and $150 too much for the bike. The bike is an easy pass and I'll have to think about the trooper - he's already my least favorite of all of the OT troopers by a wide margin.

I know very well how expensive tooling is for products like these ad there's no overlap with other figures to allow parts re-use without outright re-issues, so I get where Sideshow is coming from. But as a consumer and fan, that's al irrelevant and it's all about the value proposition given the collectibles market as a whole.

Maybe Sideshow will do us a solid and give away a ton of reward points or someday allow stacking discounts - that would make offers like these an easier pill to swallow for some folks.

Well said. I agree with this 100%.
I have about 600 reward points...Can I use them on this?

I was willing to go 150-160 for this figure. The reward points will be the deciding factor.
The bike is joke in price as I could make a hasbro one look 10 times realistic.

Really don't think the bike is that bad in relation to the E-Webb, Probot or something like the Dewback statue for the Sandtroopers. I agree with Dave. Three or four years ago at the price point these figures were selling at, Sideshow wouldn't have even considered making something like this or the Probot. Yes, it's expensive but everything in the hobby is and it's a chance to get an iconic piece of SW design. I'm happy it's being made, personally. It's cool that the Hasbro one is an option, too, for those that feel SSC's version is too expensive.

True. Simply happy to have this on my shelf.

Like the forest base, it will work out well for the Endor Rebel soldiers too.
