Howdy folks! :wave

Even knowing very little about the film, I think that the main character,
based on visual coolness alone, should be a 12" figure and/or a 1/4 scale PF.

Behold some mighty cool looking pictures:

I think it'd be a great 12" or PF figure. What say you?

JS :)

Vendetta is a Warner Bros movie & I don't think that sideshow has any
licenses with WB (Plus, sideshow pushes a lot of Marvel stuff & since WB
owns DC, it looks like WB doesn't like to see their brands created by Co's
that also do Marvel.)

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing that this 1 won't happen.

I really wish it would though! That would open a whole new world up for us collectors!

(Matrix, anyone?)

Yea I see DC Direct putting it out, I think they are doing a mask or something.

But we all know sideshows would own it.

V is kind of a strange character and a odd, rather dated story. Allan Moore wrote this at a time when he was very angry about the "fascist" takeover of Britain, you know, Margaret Thatcher's becoming PM. I'm very curious how this is going to translate in our current time.
Not talking about the politics, but I don't think this film is a great base to launch toys and action figures from and I suspect we won't be seeing many, if any. And if we did, it likely would be a 6.25" DC Direct figure from an Allan Moore "Wave" or something. And I think that that would be unlikely because they have never released "Watchmen" figures and they had shown prototypes and announced to dealers they would be released. They chose not to though out of respect for Mr. Moore's wishes and pulled the figures from the production schedule.
Non action figure stuff seems possible. DC Direct did offer a "V" Mask as someone mentioned. I saw it this week and it was intersting. And heck, you can wear it if your so inclined.
I guess you can never say never. Maybe a Japanese company like Takara or Medicom with different sensibilities and production goals will do a super premium limited release, or the movie will be wildly successful and spawn some lines later on. I suppose you never know.

DC Direct is doing the collectible mask and they've seemed reluctant to let other collectible companies do things from their properties, so I can't imagine they'd do it in this case.

And don't I remember hearing about a possible 13" V figure, but he'd be on that superhero body, which would be a crime.

And as to how timely a story about resistance against an increasingly facist government is - well - not gonna go there.

My comic shop got the mask in yesterday. I believe it's a resin mask. It's VERY well done, but it's also $200. Too much for me.

Yeah I'd love the mask, but it is a bit expensive.
I'd love a good 12" figure of V. BTW V is played by the mighty Hugo Weaving.
Go Agent Elrond!

The relationship between Alan Moore and DC is arduous at best. This may be the only thing Moore agreed to as far as merchanding.

Too bad he canceled the Watchmen figures.

Sideshow tends to shy away from new untried properties. When has Sideshow roled out line of products for pre-order BEFORE the film premieres? Only Hellboy and Van Helsing comes to mind. Hellboy already had a fan base but the movie could have easily alienated that base. And as for Van Helsing... I wouldn't be surprised that Sideshow, on some level, regrets backing that particular horse. Didn't that have bigger plays for it but curtailed them once the reaction to the movie started circulating?

Yes, it's too bad Van Helsing turned out the way it did. It looks like SSC bet on red and it came up double-o green. With LotR and SW as sure bets, it's unlikely they'll get on board any non-vintage licenses now. Even the less known properties such as Tremors and Reign of Fire are old and most likely there was no competition at all for the license.

Well we did have the X3 Maquettes for about 4 days.

Just got out of "V for Vendetta". Absolutely amazing, a very timely story about letting false security win out over liberty. Not that that would ever happen. ;)
Hugo Weaving was incredible as V, the man gave an amazing performance without us ever once seeing his face.
Yeah I want a V figure realy bad now. I know it won't happen but at least I am free to dream. :D
