MAYBE, SSC is working on a Vader as we speak.

I love everything Adam said but "MAYBE". There is no maybe. We KNOW FOR A FACT that Sideshow has been working on Vader for a long time. Most of us KNOW FOR A FACT that when Sideshow does release Vader he is going to make everyone who has been pining for the "Marmit Vader that never was" VERY VERY HAPPY.

No not like the medicom vaders those have a reveal mask.Im talking about a mask like the prop david prowse wore.

Billy

So you want a behind the scenes Starwars line??? Maybe we could have Jabba with the exclusive being the midget working the tail :pow:lsvader

A behind the scenes line would be cool.

I just want them to make a vader without a reveal mask. The reveal mask just kills the look of the figure.Id even be happy if they made the vaders just like the marmit prototypes.

:rotfl Funny, but really makes the point. Even if there's no "reveal" design, the helmet should be done as it was, 3 pieces with all the detail, only on ANH none of the pieces would come off but the back detail would still show under the helmet, and the ESB would just have the dome come off, with ROTS and ROTJ having full 3 pieces.

I just dont want the full 3 pieces to come off It would be a good idea if it comes with a interchangeable reveal head.

Billy

Why are you so against 3 pieces to the helmet, if it's done right it won't affect the figure quality.

While the diehard "naysayers" and nitpickers are indeed annoying, I hope you guys realize that eagle-eyed criticism can actually be a GOOD thing for SSC and this line. Heck, we already have a handful of examples where they have gone back and tweaked or fixed something that has been pointed out as inaccurate or incorrect on these boards or elsewhere (the latest of which was the painting on the ANH Han prototype). And there are probably a few items that would have turned out even better had a collector with a discerning eye given SSC their unfiltered feedback before it was too late.

The best situation would be for a nice medium between the two (always hyper-critical naysayers and always 100% supportive yes-men). That way, SSC can get some constructive feedback while not being thrown under the bus every time. There's nothing wrong with a nice, objective balance.

The only reason im against it is because ive never seen a good reveal with the head under their it will throw it out of wack.If they make it like the prop mask or marmit it will look like the real vader. It would be nice to see a 1/6 figure of vader with the correct size mask and dome for a change.

Actully im not trying to be annoying or say anything bad about sideshow.Ive done years of research on vaders costumes Im a prop fanatic people like me notice those tiny details that are usually over looked.

Whoa! I am out of it for a while and you know the rest. We all want armored figures, and I would argue SSC releases are hardly shelf warmers, sure some are cooler than others but all of them "Rancor keepers" circa 1984 they're not. Just remember most people are impatient (myself included) but I would rather wait and have some sprinkled awesomeness (Bespin Luke, Qui-Gon) inbetween and wait for the perfect Vader, as long as LFL and their awesome approval dept. doesn't "F" everything up. We should be fine, bask in the glory of the last 3 figures released. :D

I definately agree the ANH version should not have a reveal underneath. Honestly though I don't see a problem with either way ( head swap or reveal ) if in each case it's done right and maitains the look from the movie - i would hate to see a generic helmet such as Marmits to represent all 4 movies as each has a distinct look to it , if it's made that way then I would see no justification in buying each version.

No problum IrishJedi Im not tryng to cause any trouble with anyone im just doing my best to contribute.I collect props ive seen the rotj costume upclose and I own a casting of the mask from ANH I used to have a few esbs and other parts.

Assuming SS can scale the head in the helmet just right then the helmet itself will look fine with a full 3 piece reveal. Go look at hurricane's stuff in the Custom section if you want proof it can be done. Vader's helmet SHOULD be larger as there is a head in there. I want a ROTJ and ROTS 3 piece full reveal in ONE head. :rock

I think Medicom had the sizes perfect, the only issues I have with theirs are the poor method of keeping the dome on the mask, it's ok to sit him on a shelf but to do photography work and all it's sketchy, and the lip where the triangle of the face plate meets the jawline piece is a bit obvious.

I hope if SS does a reveal thing its a totally seperate head. Just way too many possible issues by doing it the other way IMO.

I want the 3 piece reveal for the ROTS and ROTJ helmet as well. The ANH can be one solid piece and the ESB needs to be a 2 piece.

I use to be adamantly against a Boushh style helmet for ROTJ/S Vader but now I am a little more charitable with the idea. Still prefer it to be a 3 piece reveal though. There is just something cooler knowing that Anakin's face is REALLY underneath the dome.

I'm not sure Vader could be done like Boushh and not look like ****. Boushh works fine because the Boushh mask is neckless and just an over the head unit, but Vader's helmet is his entire neck, I don't know how they could execute it without it looking bizarre. I definitely don't want a ROTJ Vader before a new body is ready. I want ROTJ Vader to be able to pose with the reveal off to show Anakin's finally living moment telling Luke you were right. It'd take nothing to build a small platfrom to mimic the Imperial Shuttle and set them up. The visual of finally seeing Anakin Skywalker, the dialogue between Luke and Anakin, and Williams' beautiful music make that one of my most treasured Star Wars moments. I was blown away when I picked up a Toy Fair back in 98 to see Hasbro's Vader with removeable helmet, finally a figure of some sort to capture the moment for me.
