I think that was part of the idea.

It's a faulty idea. Sidious has no intention of telling the Galaxy he was a Sith Lord. That's why he's called Emperor Palpatine, and not Emperor Sidious. He's still banking on the goodwill he gained as Chancellor.

Having said that, if it was made, I'd probably get a second Sidious figure to display him as well. He is my favorite character after all!

I'm actually not a big fan of that robe. Something about the hood. It seems just a little too priest-like and not enough like a Galactic Leader.

Ya, of all Palpatine's PT outfits, I felt that was the worst, the whole thing. Interestingly, it's the one flaw in GG's Commander Cody bust, they sculpted the Sidious Hologram in that outfit instead of plain Sith robing. If they did any other ROTS clothes besides the Sith black robe, I'd want the one from the Invisible Hand, the texture and all would be really neat to see. I'm so sick of speculating, why can't it be 9/6 already! lol

Politically speaking, it is smarter to look more like a religious figure than a military figure. Just ask W. or Caesar Augustus :lecture

That's one thing I liked about the political elements of the PT. It always struck me like his Emperor status in the OT was arbitrary because you had no sense of how the galactic political system worked really, you just saw two armies at war. With the PT, you saw there was a senate and a central leader of everything and that once the system changes to an Imperial structure, it made sense for people to accept Palpatine as Emperor for a time, obviously it didn't last. For me, second best part of the PT trilogy was the expansion on the Palpatine character, a great character, played by a great actor, and a nice story arc for him, very fun to watch it all play out.

seems like hoods were as common as levis in the PT... not to mention the Sith were "extinct" for a millenia... who knew where they would get their fashion cues from?

I loved the political elements of the PT. Then again I love politics. It is much easier to come across as religious than a war mongerer. We've seen it in our own US history how by using something people believe in can get you far. Both parties use it all the time and it works no matter how much we should notice.

No offense but the robe on Maul was the least impressive thing about the figure. Looked kind of cheap 2 me.

Agreed, let Medi make their robes their way and let SS do it their way. I want consistancy within a lines look, not "hey lets copy someone elses work"

Maul who? Josh, I think your first day back at school must've been a tough one. :lol

EDIT: I usually just skip Alice's post, so I didn't see the Maul reference.

j/k ;)

totally agree... hit the masses at their lowest common denominator... but, totally disagree about the Medicom Maul robe... i was very impressed with the materials and cut of the fabric.

Yes, you have a good point there... I'm worried whether the Medi Maul will not be too much out of line when displayed with the SSC SW 12" figures. A 'too good looking' Sidious could attract to much attention!

Before this thread rolls into an off and heated topic, let's remember what's coming our way :)

Simply amazing, I cannot wait for this thing to get here.

Im simply quoting this post because I said nothing about how either companies figures compare. If anyone's trying to start something its the Medikids. But yes, next Thursday cannot come soon enough.

Yup, keep things going the same. SS robes are just as good as anything and I do prefer the SS look even over the roe on the Medicom Vader.

It's actually the start of week 2. :p I'm already close to loosing my mind. :lol

Right hit where they're the same. Other than the robe the figure kicks ass.
