Maybe it's the eyebrows. Maybe it's the mouth. I can't put my finger on it but it's just really off. More so than the other figures.

i would have to say that this prototype completely captures the essence of McDiarmid / Palpatine... in fact, i think it may rank up there with the best of them for likenesses...

No you can't. My only issue is not seeing the Sidious sculpt yet, but knowing Oluf's talent and how nice Palpatine is, I can just imagine and I forsee a jaw drop on 9/5, that's guessing a day before preview of all the images which has come to be standard now.

Actually I can make out enough of it to know it looks pretty hot. And the less human a likeness is, the easier it is to capture.

May I express my complete trust in Oluf as well since he is the creator of the Phantom of the Opera piece. That Chaney likeness is one of Sideshow's finest pieces and I have no doubt Palpatine will be any different.

I would love the wall sculpture from his outer office....it would be a perfect backdrop behind Anakin and Palpatine for that "You're the Sith!" set-up...

Yeah me too...and I read somewhere (can't say if that is a fact) that they actually sculpted the mural in 1/6 scale and just added it digitally to a blank window.

If so, SSC could just ask Lucasfilm to make a cast of it

Sidious appears to be the Palpatine sculpt with the prosthetics sculpted over it. The mouth area looks identical to me.
