Doesn't it look like the production figure is missing some detail compared to the prototype? Where's the crease in his forehead for example? It shows up in the version with the brown wash, so it's there in the sculpt, but the paint may be hiding it to some degree.

I don't think the paint is hiding it at all, because the wash just adds another layer, albeit thin. I think it's just subtly sculpted and the first pictures were in so much light it doesn't show up as well.

The washed portrait shows there's plenty of detail there, just needs the right photo lighting or a dark wash to bring it out.

You can see them here if you look carefully.

Thinkin the same thing.(quality of the robes look better to me in the proto pics as well)

Who sculpted these again? Was it Oluf? Whoever it was kicked some serious ass. The detail and skin texture are amazing.

It is hiding it in the sense that it's all a uniform color, whereas the prototype probably had shading there.

That's what I'm leaning towards, bad lighting anyway. The figures are both pretty heavily lit in the face area in the pre-wash shots, I'm sure under more interesting lighitng conditions other detail would be apparent. Look at how Old Ben looks in some heavily lit shots versus some of the more creative shots of him, even look at a flash photo of someone you know and think about how different they look from when you see them in person. Natural forms like a face are defined by the light they exist in.

So, if the folds of his brow over his nose are subtly sculpted, they'll need strong contrasting light or dark wash to bring them out, and that's my guess, they're subtly sculpted or maybe the paint dissipaited them slightly, but they're not lost. I think given the neutral face, the proto and washed folds look too harsh so I'll be glad if they're more old body folds than "I'm pissed" folds.

Yup, both are Oluf's handy work. He did a great job, but again, that's only half the battle and like Old Ben, Sideshow carried the torch the rest of the way beautifully with a solid production paint job.

I wonder if production images might be posted tonight.

Yeah, it seems they've finally gotten the factory situation sorted out, and hopefully it stays sorted. It would've been a real shame if such fantastic and detailed sculpts like Ben and Palps/Sidious had been lost under Yavin Luke paint jobs.

Ya, I know many will throw out how you can get a good repaint, but that's more money on top of things, so I prefer quality from the factory. I was nervous about the Sidious, the subtle fading of the pink around his eyes out into his pale flesh is crucial and they've done a fantastic job, I'm really happy with it, and to my shock, they actually bettered the Sith eyes from Maul and Vader to be bright colors instead of the dull muted ones of early Sith.

Friggin great shots.

Glad whe got Sidius/Palpatine figures when SS is on their game with the SW line.

Can't we get a Jedi Luke and Anakin do over? :monkey1

Figures still look great, but do know those shots you posted have had a wash applied to them to highlight the details.

I was seriously thinking about canceling this order in favor of getting something non Star Wars because I'm getting a bit sick of nothing but SW 1:6 figures lately. But these new shots really have me conflicted. They look great!

Still, I'd rather have a HT Jack Sparrow or something else right now and get the Palp/Sid two pack later on.

SWEET!! these are the figs we're getting? they look great. i cant wait. my 2nd and 3rd SW figs. im slowly getting into the SW game. "consume me it will, like it did obi wan's apprentice.":D
