This is already my favorite SW 12" of all time.

:rock

They're both great, but of the 2, Sidious is my favorite, just look at the detail in his face, it so perfectly captures his look it's ****ing amazing.

My Sidious is going to Brent72 but I am really excited about Palps. He better get here soon... just like old Ben.

I think part of me is more hyped for Sidious than old Ben because we've seen some pretty good Old Ben stuff over the years, but time and again I've seen the deformed face of Emperor Palpatine / Darth Sidious botched, so like Jabba, this is a dream realized because they've nailed the look and it's phenominal. Trev's Old Ben will definitely still hold a treasured part of my collection, as the Wizard is my favorite hero of the saga.

I'm very excited about this, I think the sculpt on Bespin Luke looks better in hand than any Pre or Post production shots showed, and these 2 look so great already, and Sideshow does great with aliens so I'm very confident Sidious will be one of the most breathtaking portraits in the entire line.

For me, it's more than just the figures. I just happen to believe (strongly) that pre-dormed Palpatine >>>>> post-deformed Sidious... as a character.

That said, I'm still looking forward to BOTH figures in the 2-pack. But of all the incarnations of this character, the red-robbed "Jedi Arrest" version is by far my favorite so I'm beyond thrilled that we're getting him.

I can already see the great possibilities for poses with Mace and Anakin with both of these--- A "stumped" Mace is sure to be a winner.:D

Can't wait... Lots of goodies during the holiday month and quickly following.

Well, Irish, that's also the tragedy of the Saga; McDiarmid was never given as much screen time as The Emperor / Sidious in situations where he could deliver the same kind of performance. I agree because of that, Palpatine is the more interesting and entertaining character because he was a master of manipulation and moved all his chess pieces with great skill until finally unleashing his revenge, and from that point on, he was a minimal presence.

I'm not sure McDiarmid could give the same type of performance as Sidious like he did with Palpatine, because the character itself goes from sublime to over-the-top... likely at the behest of Lucas. McDiarmid gave, imho, a near Oscar-worthy performance in ROTS, punctuated by the Opera scene. Problem is, the reviewers mostly remembered the cackling cartoonish Sidious from the film. At least most fans appreciate both, though.

Agree he was at his best in that particular scene, but the problem for me is the entire scene with Mace --- it's a Sith Yin and Yang.

No, no, nooooooooooooo. :sick

With as good a job as he did with Palps I don't see why he couldn't have done the same given the chance with Sidious. No matter if Lucas was involved because of the job he did with Palps and Lucas was in with that. I wanted these two figures quite badly and we're getting them.

Both of these figures are a great tribute to McDirmand...his contribuation to the saga is immeasurable and Sideshow is doing an excellent job with this character.

One thing I'm really going to enjoy with this set is we'll have so many different display opportunities here. Two of the many I can't wait to take advantage of are with Anakin...the stunning reveal "So you're the Sith!" scene, and the saga-defining "naming" scene..."You shall be known as...Darth Vader"...

There are so many more, with Anakin, Mace, Kit Fisto...this set is going to be a great addition to the collection...
