:dunno How do you paint eyes with oil? Never used it. Maybe I should though. Might make it easier.

After seeing the Sideshow video post of the artist painting the Avatar head with oils, I'd always assumed you used them for blending in the iris. Anytime I've tried using watered down acrylics, the paint seems to dry on my brush before I could even lay it down on the sculpt. Guess I need to start using that retarder for this. :dunno
Oh yea, still waiting on that tutorial! :impatient: :wink1:

I did this upgrade to my Machiko quite a bit ago, but never took pics of her. Nows a good time, I guess, since it came up in the Machiko thread today.

Yes, mods, the nipple is blurred out this time. :wink1:

My first interaction with you was way back on OSW asking you to send me the images of your HT body mods because everything (nipples) were always blurred out. :)

I achieve oil-like quality with the magic of acrylic experience. It's basically the same process of blending colors, but I'm blending them on a palet first and then using thin layers on the paint surface to achieve the desired effect.

Tutorial. Jeez, I wish I had time to do that. It's still on the list of goals for the year, but who knows.

If you want to see the unblurred nipples from those pics above, find me on Facebook. Look for Nathan Eakins. You'll know when you find the right Nathan. I think there's only two of us.

Wow, this thread is full of win lately.. I smell more coming up! Keep it up man, you're on such a big roll!

Final pics of the completely finished Dragon "Northern King" sculpted by Anthony Watkins. I dulled down the gloss a bit, and coated the base (which doubles as a handle) with black bedliner rubber.

That really is amazing, Nathan. I honestly don't know how you can paint like that. :dunno

What product did you use for the black bed liner rubber, on the base? Looks great!

Great work as usual and it's really cool to see the Xeno so far and this dragon which is something different. Love it!

Thanks guys. The rubber comes in a spray can. I picked it up at Osh. It's Dupli-Color Rubberized Undercoat. The one I used was more for coating the underside of a car to prevent rust, but there are lots of different kinds for bedliners too.

The can says to let dry 10 minutes, but it took more like 10 hours for it to be totally set on the dragon base. It's very adhesive, but dries without being tacky at all, yet with a friction surface for sure gripping. It also puts a bit of texture on a smooth surface as you can kinda see in those pics.

I use FolkArt from brush applications all the time. I use ComArt for airbrushing mostly. Durability is in proper priming and sealing though. I don't have anything crack unless there is a problem with the casting material I'm painting on.

Are there any shops i can buy the ComArt paints from in the US? no one in the uk seems to stock them.
