Of course the Trev pieces are golden, and I love the WGP heads as well. Those are always all great.

I have some Jesse, Gus, and Mike here waiting for paint already. They are good. Likenesses are there. The detail could be a bit more refined, but they pass and then some. I'll be painting those.

My comment wasn't directed specifically at you, but since you had such a list all at once, I thought it immportant to be clear to everybody that just throwing heads my way doesn't mean they'll all get painted. You're good though, Wake.

Agreed on Rocco's. likeness is there on all-especially mike-but they are rougher.

Almost wish the jesses were a little less textured.

Really wish trev would show up round here again. Any custom sculpt by him is worth picking up. I learned that lesson the hard way as I struggled to get my walts and drapers after the fact.

Speaking on wgp s behalf, I also wish trev was back around these parts, he is always a source of inspiration to my self - his sculps always show a sense of style and elegance that is unsurpassed. He is the king :)

Trevor is sorely missed around here. I guess he saw that incident as something that could damage his reputation or professionalism in a wider sense. Everyone's been burned on these boards (there's a small minority in every group that works that way) but he was just gone and that was it.

I think people just didn't realize how lucky they were to have such a world-class talent among the posters on this board. You never know what you've got until it's gone...

Hey Nathan. Did you ever paint up some drapers? Curious to see how those turned out!

I've put in my order for Katos suit. I got a custom madmen dio coming from the reverend. Body and sculpt in my possession. Coup de grace is your paint ap! Cannot wait. Lol

Speaking of Trevor... Some time ago I reached out to him. He never answered PMs from me here but I had the idea to contact him over on deviant art. I totally forgot about it until reading the posts earlier this morning. Checked my deviantart inbox and lo and brhold... Speak of the devil. He says he's been extremely busy and that's why he hasn't offered up any castings. In fact he says he's surprised that he ever found the time previously. I wrote him back to let him know how we'll regarded he is round these parts and that he should drop in and say what's up.

P.s. He did admit he had been miffed by the recastings. But I honestly think he's just really busy. As are many people of supreme talent... Right silent surfer?

Here is a pic of Nathan's paint on my Draper

And regarding Trevor, you're absolutely right that he's beyond busy. He had been struggling to offer his personal projects for a while before the whole recasting mess happened, and now he's substantially busier than he was then.

Seeing a Trevor cast painted by Nathan is 1/6 gold. I never really thought about the quality of casts before. I guess if the sculpt is great, the cast will be. Man what I'd give for some of my beloved characters done by Trevor. He and his work will be missed.

In the meantime Nathan, you can try to make **** shine.

Admirably said, sdabbs.:wink1:

I was previously burned by the same people. The bright side of being a paint artist though is that nobody can recast your work; they only talk **** on your character for refusing to make deals.

P.s. He did admit he had been miffed by the recastings. But I honestly think he's just really busy. As are many people of supreme talent... Right silent surfer?

You have no idea. The downside to being a painter is that I can't just recast my own work. I have to do the whole process each and every time. :gah:

:lol I do what I can, but I'd much prefer to see people who want to play in today's figure bashing game meet the challenge of today's expectations first. There's a lot of talent out there that I believe will only get better. I was new at this (professionally) just three or four short years ago, and look at me now.

I count myself very lucky to own a piece of art with the combined talents of Trev and yourself Nathan. I will never part with my TSCC Cameron sculpt... truly is a thing of beauty :D

I hope so. The box art is pretty good though. I may be wrong, but I think Tom Gilliland from Sideshow may have painted these. I had a talk with him one year at SDCC and found out he painted for Horizon before starting up Sideshow. I asked him which box art work he painted, and he flat out said, "All of 'em." In fact, the instruction sheets in a lot of the Horizon kits had basic paint tips and a little cartoony caricature of Tom.

That's interesting... fun to know backstory on some of the artists we know and love. I'm not a fan of the SG series, but I do like the designs so I'm very interested to see what you do with the kits :duff

Thank you. Thank you.

Here's my next personal project. I jumped into the way back machine for this one. I recently watched Stargate again and thought it was time to dig out my old Horizon model kits of Horus, Anubis and Ra. They seemed like such an overwhelming task at the time when I was just starting out in model kits, but I've done so much since then, I think I'm finally ready.

Here's the official box art paint ups of the kits from 1994 (not my work).

I'm starting with Horus cause I like the straight up standing pose most, and I love the bird headdress.

The feather/fins were cast as one piece originally as you can see in the first pic above, but I went ahead and separated them to give it more movie accurate character.

When I'm done with this head, it will look as badass as this prop from SG-1.
