The FINALE was AMAZING!!!! Any chance well see a TW Smallville figure in the works?? Someone has to have some inside info!! I WANT A FIGURE! :gah:

or atleast that sweet comic book!

I want the comic book myself. I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if DC comics will release the comic for the DVD release. Maybe like an exclusive to the box set.

Me three! :lol

I could see them putting the comic in the complete blu set (if and when that ever comes out).

Great Finale! the whole season was horrible, it was just a place holder for the ending lol.

Why didn't he put on the freakin suit though!? lame :(

I am happy for everyone that thought it was amazing but after giving this show 10 years I expected a lot more personally. It might have been better if they let Geoff Johns write the finale since the writers fell back on all the standard Smallville writing cliches.

The Finale is up on iTunes now for those interested. I just downloaded the full, two-parter for $2.99 in HD. I couldn't wait for the Blu...plus I wanted a digital copy of this ep.

Also just read an EW article that says rumor is a movie is in the works. I know the idea has been thrown around already, but it seems to be popping up more and more. I hope it's true. I'm always down for an encore.

I know, but honestly, I do everything through iTunes. That way there's no legal issues, etc. etc. I don't mind paying the extra $3. It's well worth it for me.

Given that Snyder project needs to succeed in terms of even continuing the rights for DC/WB since a film in theaters is part of the licensing stipulations I would say that WB is focusing solely on that front. Rumors of a Smallville film have been going for the past five years now. Not to mention that Welling is reportedly looking at Marvel Studios productions like Runaways, Ant-Man or one of the lower lesser tiered villains for his next role, so I wonder how DC would feel about this generations Superman (because honestly he is as Routh was a blip) heading over the rivals.

After the pain in the ass that Rosenbaum has been in terms of returning as Lex and how Welling seems to be hot and cold in still portraying Clark and the media reporting that the one reason he did 10 was after CW greenlit "Hellcats", I would say that getting both Clark and Lex into a feature film would be a feat of strength in itself.

I'm still on an emotional high from last night, so I'll believe anything that gives me hope. :lol I hope to see something, but if I don't, I'm happy with the way they left it (and I think in some ways, a part of me hopes they leave it alone.)

I'll being meeting Rosenbaum towards the end of summer (if all goes as planned), so if nothing is said by then, I'll see if I can get some closure then.

Ok, i just saw the finale and I really liked it...really did.
But of course you know there´s going to be one more "but" then the one that already came.
Darkseid was rather Meh, completely through the season he was, I just didn´t like this cloudy being he was, possesing people and stuff.
I liked that they showed somewhat solid, but the hole stuff of possessing Lionel then again...was Meh.
Then...the most important scenes...were busted in my opinion.
I still got goosebumps, but only cause the anticipation was high, how they´d pull it off, but when the actual scenes came, the bumpds subsides rather quick.
The CGI was bad and the climax was rushed, I think for a finale they could´ve made it A LOT better.
They did ok and I liked the scene when he flew outta the fortress, changing into the suit and kind of when he turned into the camera after Apokalips was thrown back into space and it switched into the comic and of course the end when he ripped open the shirt.
But I had wished they´d greenscreened Welling in the actual suit in the scenes, since the CGI wasn´t good enough to really bring it and there were pretty big failures in the timing of his motion capturing into the effects, like when he´s about to fly straight into Lionel. If it´s that the effect came to late, or he´s leaning to far to the front...it just didn´t fit.
And the end, why it´s still good, like I said, he should´ve continued running and not already began stopping when the show ended.
I saw that and it was bad.
And of course those were the key scenes and it sounds like I didn´t like it all, but I did. It was a solid ending for what it was, but since I was critical to those whole premise of Superman´s complete portfolio of characters and villains put into his Smallville youth and merging it with the early times at the planet, I can safely say that Smallville won me over from Season 8 for about 75%.
It´s an ok show and if they do a movie, I hope they get a better budget to make the FX better.
But...Credit to Tom Welling:
Superman in the flesh and he did great episodes, I guess he´ll be doing fine after Smallville and of course:
Always sad to see good series ending, cause good series are rar.
Farewell Kal-El...

No one else has mentioned it - but did you notice in Lex's last scene the lightning strikes the Luthorcorp sign and knocks out the letters so the understructure makes it look like "Lexcorp"?

I'm wondering if Tom had a real phobia about the suit or something.

Glad you mentioned that. I turned to my wife and said "does that say what I think it said?". She missed it. lol
Wish I would have DVR'd so I could rewind.

A phobia, or imo, a complete respect for Reeve. It was Reeve's legacy, and it seems to me he didn't want to take it from him.

I think it was more of a fear of being stereotyped. And what the suit did to George Reeve and Christopher Reeves.

The Superman Curse refers to a theory that is based on a series of misfortunes that have plagued creative people involved in adaptations of Superman in various media, particularly actors who have played the role of Superman on film and television.

The curse in a nutshell:

If you play the strongest man on Earth, you will either die an untimely death or end up in the weakest position possible.
The curse is somewhat well-known in popular culture, though some would deny the curse, stating that several Superman-related actors, such as Dean Cain, Teri Hatcher, Bud Collyer, and even Brandon Routh, continued with successful careers after their association with the franchise. Another factor that attempts to better explain the curse is the "no cape or on-screen time" rule, meaning that actors of the Smallville TV series have not been cursed due to the Superman outfit not being worn, or that voice actors who have played Superman in radio or animated adaptations, namely Bud Collyer and Tim Daly, have escaped the curse.

Makes you wonder if Tom will do any interviews on the matter for the Season 10 release or the DVD full set release.

Perhaps the suit simply didn't fit? It was the Returns suit (I assume it was the actual Returns suit and not a replica made for the show), so it would've been tailored to Routh's physique and possibly was ill-fitting on Welling. Just a thought. :dunno

Tom said he would never wear the suit, long before this. I asked him, as he was a house guest of my former employer. He told me that then it wouldn't be Smallville, it would be Superman.

Tom is a bigger man, maybe it didn't look right on him. I keep thinking that has to be it.
