Hi choopie, are you sure the REAL SHELF DEPTH is 21-22" and not the entire curio depth? Because this was the exact model I looked to get and actually called howard miller, they said the real shelf depth was only 15"

I ended up getting a macy's furniture curio for $1000 that listed a depth dimension of 25" but when i got it i found the actual shelf depth was only 17" :( still wont fit my optimus, that's how i found the pax.

Good point. I'll have to measure the glass shelves, but I'm pretty sure the shelves are deeper than 15". But I'm probably wrong, since you already called Howard Miller and asked. I needed something that was at least 17" deep and this suits my needs just fine, so I don't know for sure without measuring. Also, all of my PFs are on the bottom shelf where there is no glass, so it's a bit wider.

they also send me an email, see below. I know the shelves from HM are stronger than most curios and can probably hold more than what they said, but i would still becareful as it's 50" wide with only support on the sides, and put the heavy statues on the side not in the middle. They didnt know if the glasses were tempered or not.

Hi, I show the glass shelf depth is 17.25, thickness is .312 or 5/16" , the shelves are fully adjustable but we normally recommend no more than 25 lbs. per shelf, thanks Jim.

Thank-you

Awesome! Thanks for that info.!

I feel very constrained even with a 17" depth on PF statues, 12" is unworkable man :slap

Yeah, tell me about it. :lol I bought it back in 2004 for my SSW LOTR statues/busts and it was fine. Then I had to re-think my display a bit when the PF's came about. The main thing that sold me on the curio was the cool designs in the wood, which as my wife pointed out were very "Middle Earthy".

Here's a couple of old pics to show the woodwork, sorry about the crappy quality.

The curios does look nice and fits well with the middle earth theme. Looks like you already have this filled to the brim. Time to start thinking about getting a second curio :)

Thanks. :duff Actually that pic is from a couple years ago and most of that stuff is history. All I have in it right now is the Morgul Lord PF (which takes up the entire top half) and the SSW mini-Balrog and Morgul Lord/Fell Beast statues on the bottom. Once I catch up on the Maquettes, the ML PF is probably gonna get moved to the top of the curio.

Hey guys. I really like this piece but do u think it will retain value because it wasn't in the movie? Or do u think it will be cheap to find down the road?

There are only 500 pieces and no ex. version.
I think that should helpt retaining it's value.
If one of these appears in the Hobbit it will definately increase imo.

I personally think it will retain value if that's your main concern. It's an awesome statue and the Es is pretty small.

Its not the ES that I am concern about. Because this wasn't in the movie (relatively unknown character) do u think it will be cheaper to get in a few years. I just don't want to lose money if I ever need to sell it down the road because of space issues.

I don't think so but that's hard to say. We have no idea how the market will be but it being awesome looking and a low Es will help it.

It depends on how the final version turns out, it could be a cave troll or a mumakil of herad in term of value.

I am leaning towards cave troll as long as the final version looks as good as what JOSH saw at sdcc.

In term of character appearing in the movie or not it's not as significant, this is a troll..a troll is a troll...not a good guy human or hobbit that people need to recognize 100% ...

Depends on when this gets shipped, you may still get lucky on the WL since it doesnt have NRD. But it's been sold out for a lonnnnng time now and only 500 ES total. So....

I already have the preorder with SSC. I just hate to see it later in a bargain basement price because there is no demand for him.

Nobody wants to get collectables that are going to devalue, that's for sure. :(

Best to collect what you like and if it holds value or even increased in value, then that's a bonus. :wink1:

I agree nobody wants to get pieces that if they have to sell have gone down, but I get things because the subject matter means something to me.

I have been collecting for a long time and have yet to make a purchase based on speculation of whether an item will hold it's value or not. I think the quality of The Snow Troll will speak for itself. If it comes out anywhere near as good as the preview pics, this guy is gonna be red hot. I'm a huge LOTR fan and it doesn't make the slightest difference to me if this was in the movies or not. As I've said before - Cool is cool, however you slice it!

Agreed :hi5:

i love it that he's holding a dwarf, it makes the whole piece!

It adds some more coolness to the piece that's for sure.
