furystorm = originally devised screen name for myself in 1996, which I have used ever since my college days.

fury = my propensity to become easily enraged
storm = Sue's, and Johnny's last name

fury + storm = furystorm!

And there you have it. While I am admittedly behind on my FF reading, I'm a bit upset that my favorite Marvel character has died.

:(

I love comics, but there are great dry spells where there isn't much to read.

I disagree, there's always a handful of titles that continously excel.
Captain America, Daredevil (before that horrendous Shadowland arc), Thunderbolts (my personal favorite) & so on. There are always exceptions, you just have to look harder. Oh Walking Dead as well!

Do you read any independents?

Yes, roughly half of my pull bag is independents lately. My favorite indie title right now is FreakAngels. I like quite a bit of what's coming out of Avatar. Not much grabbing my interest from DH at the moment. IDW is so license heavy it's hard to think of them as an indy publisher.

I was reading some old Epic Illustrated magazines recently (it was Marvel's answer to Heavy Metal) and I wish they would give the magazine format another go.

Yeah, Dark Horse is pretty license heavy as well. It's hard to think of them as an independent (same w/Image), but the quality of storytelling is miles ahead of most of the stuff coming out of the big 2 these days.

Avatar rules! I got into them back when they started doing Faust/777 stuff and haven't stopped since. Warren Ellis is a fountain of stories man, he just keeps pouring them out!

Heavy Metal is still great too :rock Last issue had the final installment of Requiem - been waiting for this to finish for close to 9 years now. insane stuff!

Don't forget DC's Vertigo and Marvel's Icon. The best stuff in comics in the last 10 years has come out of those outlets.

I dig Vertigo and Icon books too, but it's hard to think of them as independent since Marvel and DC own them. Definitely some great titles under those banners though.

Yeah man, just read that a few weeks ago in trade. Was some crazy stuff, and actually looking foward to the recent series once the trade hits. Crossed is like Walking Dead on crack = awesome!

Wolfskin is a really cool book too. First series had nice lush Jose Ryp art :drool

I like the look. Not a big fan of white but they look cool. How can Spider-man be stealthy now in white though?

Well it was dark red and and dark blue, not exactly stealthy right but not white for Gods sake

For better or worse, I don't think this new direction will require Spidey to be stealthy too often. The more I read about this, the more I like it. It sounds like they're really turning up the science angle with this title, and I like that a lot. But I might just be hearing what I want to hear...
