It is Brandon Routh. No, they aren't casting him.

I posted it as a smart ass move but the irony is Routh was cast in Superman Returns for the same reason people keep saying they want Anthony Ingruber: He has a passing resemblance to the previous actor. Never mind if his acting is strong enough for an entire film, we demand continuity.

Routh had the thankless task of playing Superman and trying to channel Christopher Reeve. Did the internet thank him? No. They rose up in a nearly single voice and shouted "F--- you!" at Brian Singer, the film, the tone of the film, Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, and especially Brandon Routh. No superstardom for you, Dylan Dog. Fanboys are fickle that way.

So now the intertubes are trying to setup Anthony Ingruber in the same way. It's a trap. Chris Pine should take him to lunch and tell him to "Run like hell".

My impression has also been that Routh received pretty much universal praise for his part in channeling Chris Reeve. I certainly thought he did a great job. I watched Superman Returns for the first time in years a couple months ago and I was really surprised at how good 85% of the movie was. It just took such a damn sharp nose dive in those final 15-20 minutes.

Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I liked Superman Returns. It would seems to be a minority opinion. "Not enough action", "he doesn't fight anyone". A friend of mine calls it "Super-stalker".

Fanboys wanted a film like "Man of Steel", and when they got it half of them ripped it to shreds too.

Superman Returns had issues but seeing it again after MOS boy did I appreciate the things it got right.

Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I loved Superman Returns, its in my top 10 favorite superhero films. I enjoy it more now since it’s a sort of quasi-ending to the first two Reeve films instead of being the first in a new set of movies. I really don’t know where they could have gone after Superman Returns though :lol

Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

He kind of looks like an older Ezra from Star Wars Rebels :lol

Well the superkid was an issue but they could easily have gone on to have a supervillain.

Yes I complained that Superman Returns was boring and yes I complained that Man of Steel was boring. But, for me, that was because I felt no investment in the action with Cavill's newb Superman. I more likely would have been invested in such action involving Routh's established Superman.

A newb Superman, who the world is seeing for the first time, dealing with other Kryptonians right from the off with such cataclysmic consequences just wasn't the right move IMO. They should have made a sequel to Superman Returns and based the new DCCU off that.

Originally Singer was going to bring General Zod back, and had offered Jude Law the role, but he turned it down and Singer got rid of the character altogether. Would have been cool if that had come to fruition.

Ah, now I get it.

The Kingsman guy? Sure, why not. I'm probably going to just dismiss the whole movie no matter who they choose anyway. :lol

None of them look like Harrison Ford at all.....

They won't give the Ford look-a-like 'Anthony Ingruber' the part....so it's already a fail

Re: Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

There are about ten who screen tested for the role, not just those three guys. They are just rumored to be on the shortlist.

The role should belong to Anthony Ingruber, would be perfect.
