Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

looks NOTHING like Ford

Some of the other shots are a bit better HF-wise. In that one he looks a bit like Brian Keith from Officer and Gentleman.

Looks okay. Didn’t make me thrilled to see it though.

I think the guy’s voice is throwing it off for me. Harrison has a resounding depth to his voice that this guy simply cannot replicate. There are at least some decent Vader impersonators out there. Granted, you can just toss a helmet on them and call it a day.

Disney Star Wars certainly loves British brunettes. #3 and counting.:lol

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

I think it looks like alot of fun....

I dunno what people are expecting on this forum sometimes.....a rejuvenation of your youthful exuberance?

A religious experience?

Something to restore your faith in humanity?

All I want these days is an entertaining film...this is not a trilogy film so , with Solo I am expecting an action sci fi film....with a back ground story for Han Solo. I doubt that can be much more than it is......hopefully a fun ride and decent story. If your expecting some kind of OT type experience....I got news for you.....thats never gonna happen again in your lifetime.

Chewy looks good to me, thinner younger type look, which may or may not make sense.

Don't feel wow'd here but...I'll see it. Could be the first Diz SW not to break a billion WW-we'll see. No one is making an impression in this trailer, especially AE.

I'm still wondering why we need a movie about the origins of a character we already know the fate of - he's stabbed in the gut by his spoiled brat kid.

For Lucas-Diz, this is starting to look like one of those instances where the train left a station and it's gonna just go where it's going to go.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

This is just Disney making a film for the sake of $$ and not because the fan base has been screaming for a Solo movie. Of all the characters they could have done instead; Kenobi, Darth Maul, Vader, Fett; They picked what I think ends up being the most boring.

You are talking crap. RO was pretty much OT experience in many ways. It’s not impossible to achieve.

Chewy looks fine to me. I'm liking the look of this. Will it be the best Star Wars movie ever? Obviously not. But it looks fun. Is there hope of Boba Fett showing up in this film?

I would like to see a Lobot. Before he becomes a one. Is that actor still alive?

“It’s not about the destination. It’s about the journey.”

I don’t think the film looks bad at all. I just wish they had digitally altered his voice a little, for ****’s sake.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

teaser was better.. but i remain hopeful.
could be a bit of silly fun.

Agreed.
Last night's teaser had me actually interested in this, but now I'm back to "meh".
Will watch it at the cinema, of course, TFA and TLJ haven't soured me that much...

If you have to digitally alter somebody's voice to make them sound more like another actor, you probably did a piss poor job casting the fellow in the first place.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

True.

Then again, Harrison Ford and James Earl Jones have very distinctive tones. They’re difficult to impersonate. The one guy I’ve seen perform even remotely decent is actually an actor that looks a lot like a young Harrison. Anthony Ingruber. :slap

You sound exactly as you did in the TLJ thread towards those that did not like it. I have yet to hear someone say they want a rejuvenation exuberance, religious experience, or restoring faith in humanity. Most of your posts really make you sound like a casual SW fan and someone who enjoys "an entertaining film with a fun decent story", not someone that feels connected or vested in this universe for 40+ years, or however long you've been following, or someone who's spent thousands of dollars on merch & collectibles. You don't seem to portray any passion for SW, good or bad, in your comments or posts. And if that is the case, makes no sense as to why you'd be here on forums that talk about dollies from movies.... ??

And yes, it is possible for an OT type experience. RO did exactly that. Seeing Tie Fighters, Star Destroyers, the original Death Star, Stormtroopers & Imperial Officers all ripped out of the OT, as well as Vader and of course Tarkin & Leia looking and sounding (through cgi) exactly as they did in 1977. Did we watch the same movie in RO?? I actually had goosebumps and love that movie even more each time I watch it. Not trying to pick on you, but your comments just stood out to me more than others.

As far as the full trailer, It looked OK. Not as good as RO in the nostalgia dep't. And looks like some of the story elements of Solo's background really don't fit with the characters mystique. Never felt Han Solo was ever a team member yet here he is with a team. He was always a loner until Chewie, due to his life debt, made him open up more. And that Luke and Leia were the 1st to make him feel he could make a difference and become part of a team. The turning point for his character, which again would make his return to his old ways in TFA hold more weight. Now it seems like he just flip flops... Loner, team player, loner, team player, back to loner, then team player and dies. Have to wait to see how the movie actually plays out, but trailer makes me feel like this is not the Solo from the OT. And the actor is smiling way to much, and not in the Harrison Ford smirky way... And how do we make

Chewie look different?? Well, he can live up to over 700 years, and he's only like 400 (middle aged), so he wouldn't have aged as much over the course of the movies, soooooo...... Hmmmm, let's give him 2 bandoliers!!! New merch boys!!.. :yess:
