Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

When we first hear Lando's voice amongst the crowd before we see him it sure sounds like they used Billy Dee's voice.

He had a really good Lando moment too when he said something along the lines of " It's a great way to kills us all, I'll give you that." He nailed that line for sure.

Vader alters Lando’s sexuality, er deal, because Lando is obviously not in a position to bargain.

The mere fact Vader pledges to compensate Fett tells us Fett, or whoever he works for, is a force to be reckoned with, and/or Vader may need his services again later.

Yeah, 100%. They either took Glover's voice and did a little computer modification for that first scene or edited BDW's voice somehow. Glover is off-screen when you hear those first lines so they didn't even have to lip-sync it. They must have been a bit worried about the first new Lando scene so added some BDW magic dust.:yess:

I'm not sure I even understand what the "trick" was at the end -- did they have the actual "stuff" with them at Dryden's or not? There was so much eyeballing one another it was difficult to follow who was in on what with whom.

Yeah, it was hard to figure out but the main issue was I didn't really care by that point - Maya Rudolph's daughter as Boussh, bland bad guy with facial scratches, boring windy-beach planet (with no tongues... or not?,) meh girl from GOT, even more stolen spaceship gas - and if you didn't see the Woody thing coming...:lol

"The Cameo" still sucked though, even as I was prepared. Should have been Jabba.

I was so glad I knew about it before. Even though I still hated it, I was prepared and he actually looked pretty decent. Maul has always been about 50% Velveeta cheese as a creation so I kinda liked how he looked a bit older/wiser and his make-up had kind of run (or something.)

Not sure a hologram would have been a cool way to intro Jabba there - if they were going to include him it would have to have been in a cool and unexpected way - not as the "big bad" as many would assume, and holo-bad-guy reveals has become such a lazy SW cliche.

in all honestly right now thats how i always saw it. I thought it was more about Vader not pissing off one of the bounty hunters he counts on.
to me it felt like it was about reputation. if the bounty hunters learned that Vader did Boba wrong they might not work for him again.

And Vader hiring bounty hunters obviously implies he needs outside help (outside the empire) or that he doesnt trust the workers to be competent.
I thought it was pretty simple. Vader required their help and paying boba was just because he didnt want them to not work for him again.

As shown in that video posted earlier, Luke's entrance tio Jabba's Palace was actually a "rhyming" of Vader's previous entrance (after the Battle of Yavin). And Vader didn't waste time with Force-choking:

And here's when Fett delivered Luke's identity:

Yes, it's an epic moment. Shame it was wasted on a comic (much as I love the art form).

Maybe we'll see it in an anthology flick one day.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

It is hard to find good help. But Jar Jar Binks is the most fearsome Sith Lord. It was he who pulled all the strings behind the scenes. Not Palpatine. Not Vader. I’m sure you know like the rest of us, Lucas originally planned for Jar Jar to be a beloved character, and only in the end with the Sith Lord be revealed – the real Sith Lord.

:lol

it was poetry

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

How lazy comic artists are these days. Just tracing stills from movies and thinking they're "drawing." Luke's stroke is obviously a freeze frame from Jedi where he wails on Vader and cuts his hand off.

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

the light saber
a known phallic symbol
is fully out, as a metaphor for luke's member reaching the ultimate feeling of climax
his tight grasp, as a form of showing his state of mind in this moment

Idgaf what Anyone else thinks. Maul beging in this brought it from a 5 to a 7/10 to me.

I thought the stuff was all fake, too- what did I miss? :gah:

Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story (May 25th, 2018)

But then why does Beckett have Chewie carry out the very same "fake" boxes? And why are they so carefully putting the "stuff" back into said boxes. There was a switch, but it really doesn't make much sense.
