I have only seen this once in theatres and looking forward to next weeks purchase on blu ray “Bo don’t download”. I do remember after the credits rolled in May,that I liked the fact Fett or Jabba was not cramped into this story which does open up storytelling for sequels! A minor issue was that mention of finding employment with Jabba at the end. Would like to see other adventures before they hit the Jabba era!!

Just watched it, love that scene, don't know what they were thinking by cutting it!

I think someone was smoking some bad stuff. :lol

How crazy that for the last two years we've been blasting Disney for the stupid idea to tell Han Solo's backstory and now we're mad that they didn't include *more* of his backstory, lol.

:lol :lol :lol

I can’t believe how much this silly movie has grown on me.

I know, right?!

Strangely, I didn't think the snowball fight was so terrible. I kinda smiled at it. Silly we're-not-friends-we're-not-partners moment.

Same here. :D

This was a fun aide SW film.

I almost feel sorry for the boycotters who refuse to see it in some vain attempt to influence Disney....

Mostly is upsets me that Disney has to think twice about a sequel because it didn’t do well at the box office. However , I think they will go ahead with the sequel after this film finds its base on DVD.

I think Digital/Blu-ray/DVD sales will help boost this movie. Whether it boosts it up to sequel territory is another question. I hope it does. :D

Dunno how anyone could rate this lower than AOTC .....acting was better, better made, better dialogue....

And yeah a better story?

What does AOTC (or TPM) have on this?

Nostalgia?

Sent from the inside of a giant slug in outer space.....

A reason to exist, for one. And it's Solo that trades too heavily on nostalgia. I mean, did we really need to see the origin of the word "Chewie"? Or have his age spelt out when it never needed to be mentioned in the OT?

I could go on, but I know y'all don't want me to. :D

That's what she said.

:lol

I have seen this again. It's not one of the bestest films ever but it has an old school adventure movie feel to it and really brought a smile to my face at the right moments. L3 was probably the only thing I didn't like which is a major win when you've got Han Solo not being played by Harrison Ford.

The film stays in my personal Star Wars canon.

Did Yoda need to tell Luke his age shortly after meeting him? No, but such color is fun. None of these films needed to exist, SW and ESB included. But they do simply for the sheer fun of it.

I was just as annoyed as you that:

1. They'd dare make a Han movie without Ford
2. And that if they *did* make a Han movie without Ford that they didn't cast Ingruber.

And now here we are accepting it as canon, lol.

I'm still curious what Ingruber could have been like but Alden did a fine job. I prefer Alden playing Captain Solo over Chris Pine playing Captain Kirk.

Alden extremely charming and dashing he IS HAN SOLO for me which is just absurd to even say.

Not to take anything away from Ewan being Obi-Wan because he perfectly pulled it off but Alden had a much tougher job to get fans approval and he did it.

I Agree, Aiden E, while he may not look a lot like Han solo, has a certain unquantifiable charisma.

Who would have been the best fit for Han? We may never know, but he works, which is far more than I expected.

I would bet $10 that the reason they didn't have Ingruber play Young Han was that he already played Young Harrison Ford, and Disney didn't want to get sloppy seconds.

It would've positioned them as second fiddle.

Ingruber actually auditioned for the role, but Disney didn’t think he was a good fit.

Then Acting Lessons-McGee Alden Ehrenreich got it instead. :lol

So they turned Ingruber down for the very reason many of us thought they would. They were concerned that his impression of Ford would make it seem like a parody. Although that's funny considering the rumour that the previous directors were fired because they were making the film too jokey.

All in all I think it worked out OK - except for the box office. The film deserved to do better, so that's a bummer.

I never actually found Ingruber to be a natural impersonator beyond his physical features. His youtube impression from way back when and even his performance in Age of Adeline just felt so forced and deliberate to me. Like with every syllable that he spoke it was just too obvious that he was *trying* to act like Ford. So instead of pretending to be Han Solo he was pretending to be Harrison Ford pretending to be Han Solo. Or pretending to be Ford pretending to be his Adeline character. Like he was always trying to do an impression of someone else doing an impression.

But I still wanted him to be young Solo because I was just so averse to the entire concept that I figured what the hell at least get someone who *looks* like Ford. But Alden absolutely was the way to go. No he didn't convince me that he was a young Harrison Ford but somehow he *did* convince me that he was a young Han Solo, even a younger version of canon OT Solo. Most likable character out of all the Disney SW films and considering the bias against such a portrayal of a sacred character that's something that just can't be overstated enough.

The Cantina scene impression he did was already pretty old. I thought he overdid the shifty eye movement in that one but I hoped he would have improved since to make himself even more seamless.

Sometimes it was absolutely spot-on - the smile/laugh in the Last Crusade impression was a stand-out to me - definite Harrison Ford.
