Reminds me, Ray Park owes me an autographed photo from when I correctly answered a trivia question on Twitter years ago! (It was, "What other character did I play in TPM?")

He looks great. Awesome to see him having fun and getting to play Maul again. Love that saber spinning gif.

Which other character did he play in TPM?

Looks cool. Need to use machine learning to replace Alden's voice as well. Then possibly to replace the script, the director(s), and everybody else except possibly Chewie. And also to turn on the lights.

Alden was surprisingly good just not as good as Harrison ford. If only Harrison ford wasn't such a good actor, or didn't completely encapsulate the role of Han Solo. Unfortuneatly, for Alden, Ford was hoping that star wars was finally going to be his big break (he had been a b list actor for a while) and utterly nailed the role putting all his Fordy charisma in it. Sure Alden did a great job, but it still wasn't better then the OG actor who played the part. There is only one Harrison Ford, and nothing against aldon he just isn't at Fords level as an actor, he doesn't command the screen as well as ford or have as much charisma. Recasting any of the main OT characters would be a *****, the only one that could work would be Sabastian Stan as luke skywalker, he is a good actor and has charisma, on par with MH, and he looks way more like him then Alden does Ford.

**ATTENTION: Solo picture quality fix for Samsung TV owners!**

Okay after getting pissed at how bad the lighting is on the Solo blu-ray after watching CTB I decided to pop Solo in the player and play with the brightness settings. I distinctly remember for my three theatrical viewings of Solo the IMAX 3D looking good, the Dolby Vision auditorium looking *great*, and the standard 2D Markus theater looking dark and terrible. I also remember the cinematographer responding to widespread complaints of the darkness and defiantly stating "it's my job to shoot the movie, not calibrate the theater projectors."

Long story short I switched my Samsung TV's picture setting from "Movie" to "Dynamic" and BAM, instant change to the entire look of the film!

Anybody else with a Samsung TV who like me just watches all movies in "Movie" mode (which you'd think would be a no-brainer, duh) I absolutely advise you to ALWAYS switch to Dynamic for Solo. I'm blown away! Brightness is back to Dolby Vision levels, it's a whole different experience! Contrast is still there (meaning blacks still look black, shadows are still dark) but you can see details again! Actors' faces! Lol, thank God, I was really getting worried that this would ultimately be too frustrating a film to watch repeatedly at home but it's no longer the case. Film looks gorgeous again.

For most of the movies I watch I have a custom setting I use. I have some old Disney movies that have a calibration screen to them to adjust blacks and other colors to help combat the darkness issues some movies have. Solo on my tv has looked good since day one and I am glad you have it fixed now Khev because Solo was a pretty enjoyable flick. I have watched it at least 3 times since having it on blu ray.

I still have the Indiana Jones DVD's with the THX calibrator where they put up the THX logo and some other screens and have you change the brightness and blacks and things to make the logo appear just right in order to get a proper movie PQ. But with the TV I've had the last few years "Movie" mode seemed to do the trick on it's own and IIRC a Home Theater guru even said that Samsung does a good job of precalibrating for you based on the picture mode you select.

I don't know if Dynamic is the best setting for every film but it made ALL the difference for Solo due to whatever built in contrast settings that accompany that mode. I'm sure people like you or jye would probably have even better settings that you did manually but damn, yeah, so nice to be able to fully enjoy Solo again. :rock

My theatrical viewing of the movie was fine, if I recall correctly. And watching it at home on Blu Ray has also been fine. Are there any comparison screenshots out there? I'd be curious to see how bad/dark Solo looked.

I did the same thing with my Samsung TV, Khev. I first switched over during some of the scenes in Black Panther and definitely noticed how well it benefited Solo as well.

Right on. :rock I thought it was strange that there wasn't an uproar on any of the A/V Home Theater sites that I frequent because they feature some of the most a n a l videophiles on the planet which really had me wondering if it was just my display. Apparently it was.

Arsenio would like a word with you:

Lol, I kid. I don't own BP but I did notice on Netflix how dark that first jungle scene looked.
