Re: Han Solo: An SJW Story (May 25th, 2018)

Her commentary was well done.

On the opposite side of the spectrum look at Spiderman director John Watts going from a nobody to being fully embraced by Feige and Pascal, they can't stop singing his praises and you can tell that Watts is more than happy to be a corporate team player, how could you not when given these rare opportunities.

Sure you can try to flex your creative auteur muscle but at a risk to your career.

Financial protection of the franchise will always trump your creativity, the Nolan's and Howard's are mature enough to serve the industry in that manner.

Look at Whedon's jump over to DC you just know that was done as retaliation against Feige and DC was more than happy to accomodate that move.

I'm just now curious how much of Whedon's input was involved with WW.

JYE just summed it all up pretty nicely here. Very simple. There is inevitably conflict between creativity, art, and integrity to those interests, and the financial bottom line. The producers are willing to tolerate the former so long as it doesn't go too far in impeding the latter. Are they always right? No. Do we really have any idea what's gone on behind the scenes in this case? No. But it's sensible for a producer not to want a major Star Wars film to be a subversive comedy masquerading as an action/drama or whatever. Similar to Marvel Studios though, that certainly puts limits on what a film can achieve creatively. We will not get a Dark Knight under Kathleen Kennedy IMO, anymore than we'll get one under Feige. But they can churn out Rogue Ones like clockwork, every 6 months, until the end of time. For better or for worse.*

Anyone else just HATE Kennedy's face now?
:lol
I hate all SJW's, which I believe includes all women? So, I must agree with you.

*it is actually for the worse.

Surprised no one posted this. Not that it is very surprising:

More fodder for Snikt, anyway.

Just saw that. Finally we hear something from them and yes it means nothing is as what the press sources have been saying.

Hopefully we get more soon.

We will not get a Dark Knight under Kathleen Kennedy

Clearly we won't.

Well I think it does mean something, in that it is a pretty obvious *** by the directors. But I don't think it is surprising.

I'm just waiting for a "That's not the movie we made, which is why it sucks ***." comment after it comes out.

I agree with karamazov80 that if LFL really did release a RO quality film every 6 months that the results would be disastrous. Audiences would never have any reason to watch any other movies ever and the industry would collapse. Whereas films like X-Men:Apoc are great pallet cleansers that allow other movies like Kong: Skull Island and Logan to shine by comparison.

I would really be hesitant to equate Josh Trank with these guys. That's not going to bolster your argument, IMO :lol

I'm aware lol everyone drank the Disney Kool-Aid with the Edwards fiasco and they've done the same with this.

We're living in the age of rabid consumerism where one doesn't question the product.

Great point. No reason to watch other movies once you gouge your eyes out.
