Well, I saw it...

Daniel Craig needs to move on. He was sleepwalking through the whole thing and when he says he's just in it for the money, I believe him. If you're not going to enjoy it, then let someone else have a turn. I thought he grew into the part with Skyfall, but this was a big step back. It's just a kind of a middle of the road movie. I felt the same way about Jurassic World. It was just a bunch of stuff that happened. When you spend almost $300M on a movie, it should leave an impression and this didn't really, certainly not in a good way. Hope this doesn't wreck it for anyone else, but even with lowered expectations, I thought it was lacking. The very definition of 5 out of 10.

I would agree that it was a middle of the road experience. I don't think that it was Craig that necessarily brought the movie down though. The plot was fairly weak and the roles of the supporting cast were poor, to me. Léa Seydoux was perhaps one of the worst Bond girls of all time, to me.

Moneypenny basically has no point in the film and the climax between the two major villains was weak. I can't believe Bond took down a helicopter from a speeding boat with a handgun and there was no real dialogue between him and Oberhauser. The final scenes between M and C were particularly bland. I think the roles should have been reversed. Oberhauser should have been killed (how can you let someone that meticulous and calculating live?) and C should have been brought it. I know they were trying to bring back the whole "It's also a license not to kill" but that was said by M and could have been reinforced by him not killing C. The romance between Bond and Madeleine was also incredibly rushed and uninteresting.

I certainly didn't dislike the movie, it just had a lot to live up to after Skyfall and a lot of poor choices were made. On the other hand, I thoroughly enjoyed Jurassic World

I have a feeling that's how Spectre is going to be for me.

Oops, I actually meant Quantum. Fixed above. I still need to see Skyfall again on Bluray. I had a lot of issues with it the first time. I think the only scenes I really really enjoyed were the opening and very last scene.

The opening of Skyfall, with the theme song, was pretty epic. It's a slower paced movie but there were a few great scenes for me and overall I thought it was a solid film.

I haven't seen it yet - going tonight - but the basic thing I keep reading people not liking is that "it's a step backwards." IMHO, any step backwards toward what a Bond movie SHOULD be - something we haven't seen since "Die Another Day" - is a GOOD thing. The Craig movies have been enjoyable, no doubt. But it's like a modern spy movie with a guy who happens to be named James Bond, not a Bond movie that happens to be modern. I thought Skyfall was finally doing that, until the last act that turned into Home Alone mixed with M becoming the most incompetent target since the Escort mission in the GoldenEye N64 game.

Saw this last night at 10:45 pm with only getting an hour and a half sleep the night before and I really liked this movie. It dragged at certain points and waltz was not nearly as interesting as he is as a character in Tarantino films. I wanted more of an epic finale between Bond and Waltz but I do feel like the end left it open for any direction they go in after this.

It had a great opening and I enjoyed the action in between and the style the film was made in. As predictable as some of the plot was i was happy with it just wanted a louder ending. I'm a huge Skyfall fan that and CR are still the top for me but I don't enjoy any bit of Quantum as much as I enjoyed this one. I do agree though some of the supporting cast just seemed like they are just going through the motions. This film could have used a better writer. I don't dislike the final product but I saw potential for way more.

I think I'll like it ALOT- seems the step backwards is what I need after SF- again that was Ok but not Bondian enough- here's to some more traditional Bond elements- warts and all!

What I meant when I said that was that it was a step backwards in Craig's portrayal of Bond. It looked like Craig was moving towards a slightly more relaxed portrayal of the character in Skyfall, but he was back to being pretty blank in this one for me. I love the traditional elements of Bond and was glad to see them moving in that direction. The worst thing to do is try and make James Bond "realistic". Real spies are pretty boring. Bond stories and villains and gadgets should be bigger than life, because it's an escapist fantasy.
Tradition in a film franchise is tough to deal with because you have a lot of long term fans who expect it, but it makes it tough to find a new audience or to expand beyond the one you already have. Sure, people have watched Saturday Night Live for 40 years, even though you can set your watch by it, but how much new audience do they get? I don't know, Spectre was just a letdown for me, I guess.

Damn, Daniel Craig has a ****** signature! :lol DQ? Was he at a Dairy Queen when he signed it?

Dalton has an awesome signature though.

Lazenby had to write "007" next to his name to remind people he was Bond :lol
