Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

This figure is guaranteed but I agree it won't be revealed until the movie is out.

I think it is likely that they will do the figure, but we have no idea what the deal is with Sony in regards to promotions and such with Spidey. I mean we're what 2 weeks away from the premiere and we've still only seen 2 seconds of him?

Like I said, they probably will do a figure, and it probably wont be shown until well after the movie has premiered, but I still think there's a chance there won't be one at all.

I know there isn't any photos of him yet from hot toys but he will obviously be announced by hot toys really soon.

Apparently Sony is interfering with promotional rights, which as usual is downright stupid of them. They better get over it soon, since it'll be kinda hard to promote his solo movie with no advertisements. They need to just step back and mind their own business for a while, and let Marvel handle it.

In regards to a figure, there were Raimi Spidey figures, and for both Garfield ASM movies. I don't know why HT wouldn't be able to make one now.

Maybe Sony is holding back and waiting to see how much of a success this movie will be and what the fan reaction is for Spidey before allowing a figure to be released. Same goes for any other figure or merchandise. There's nothing out there for Spidey as of yet.

The are not interfering. The interview quoted by many that the Russos gave was done before the deal with Sony was even final and that's the issues they brought up. They had the framework in place so they could start incorporating him into the film but the deal was not final with regard to everything else. Which is what they said. Sony was not interfering. Or being stubborn. Or anything else

This is the interview those tumors stem from. It was made public in Jan and was done before that. There's one key thing that shows that the deal is now final. The fact they showed spiderman. They could not do so, and could not even talk about the suit, without the deal being done.

Russo-"Part of the reasons of what was so secretive was that the deals were always lagging slightly behind how we were using the character" said the directors. "We were always in danger of upsetting the deal—there were still sensitive issues going on between the two studios that they needed to agree on. When we were casting Tom Holland, when we were screen-testing him for the movie there was a whole very involved kind of process that was under the radar and secretive, because of the fact that it was still a sensitive business issue." They went on to highlight why they can't discuss Spidey's costume: "The reason why we still won’t talk about [the costume] is that Marvel and Sony still have to work out what uses they have for the character, on a promotional level, on a commercial level. There’s still complications as far as that goes that involves business deals." So there you have it, once again politics get in the way. But in a way we are glad that we haven't seen anything yet - keeps it a surprise.

At this stage I wouldn't really care if HT didn't make a Spidey figure for CW, I can wait for the solo film figure next summer. Helps spread out my purchases as that's the only MCU figure I'd be interested in that year. Plus considering BP didn't come with a Boseman HS, I doubt Spidey will have a Holland HS, makes my pass decision easier.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

I think my favorite was the Amazing Spider-Man 2 suit - I like the big eyes. But when I went to find one that didn't have the issues with the web pattern lining up, I realized these things are gong for more than I'm willing to pay ($350 and up??? Nope, not gonna do it). So I'll see how the CW figure looks - it definitely is classic, so I may settle for it if it grabs me at all. The one I have (ASM1) really not happy with the eyes, so think I'll just part that one out so I can recoup my $ (funny how parting out a figure you can get more than just selling it outright, but eh what ya gonna do?).

So for financial reasons i may just learn to like CW figure! It's not bad really, I just happened to like bug-eyed Spidey.
I'm surprised the ASM 2 version has creeped up in price. But it's a very nice figure, apart from darkness on his face and some other fairly minor issues.

I've got the Spider-Man 3 and ASM 2 Hot Toys figures, and will also get this guy, assuming HT doesn't do anything weird like going back to the rubbery suit a la the ASM 2 promo figure or Black Panther. Will probably also get one from the solo movie. I only need one Iron Man in my collection, but Spidey? MORE.

Hot Toys could be really smart and release this with...
both outfits

If they went back and made his homemade outfit from the first Raimi movie I'd get it.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

This will be a day one pre-order for me. Glad I didn't get the figure from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 even though it looked good.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

I'm anxious man. Spidey will probably sell out in a fraction of a minute!

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

Amazing Spider-Man 2 is an incredible figure - great costume, very flexible. I don't really care for this costume. I'm all Spidered out
