Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

Amazing Spider-Man 2 is an incredible figure - great costume, very flexible. I don't really care for this costume. I'm all Spidered out

:exactly: Won't totally rule out getting CW spidey (if he even gets made?), but glad I have Amazing Spider-Man 2, a spidey in hand is worth 2 unconfirmed CW Spider-Man figures in limbo. :lol

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

I'm another who prefers the ASM2 suit, at least so far. I wonder if we'll get a Spidey PO next week or the following, right before the movie.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

What I absolutely LOVE about ASM2 is, beside the suit, the flexible body. He can do just about any pose I think up. Even the crazy McFarlane poses.

I agree. I had the ASM1 figure for a while but ended up selling it. It was due to me thinking the figure was a tad to skinny, same reason I didn't get ASM2 fig. And also the Spiderman 3 figs just look too... Built not lanky enough. Weird right? Like either looks didn't fit to what I thought Spidey should look like.

I do like the look of this one and I hope they nail the body type for him.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

I assume it won't be in the movie but I would love an Iron Spider-Man.

Pretty cool custom of one I saw online.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Iron Spider looked like that, not one bit. :lol

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

If they actually end up making this figure, the earliest I think we would hear about it is July at SDCC.

Yeah maybe even later based on when they release their normal Spidey figure.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

SDCC will probably be the time to reveal unannounced figures. No doubt Wolverine from Apocalypse will be shown as well.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

If we were to presume that HT didn't get a first look at Spidey until sometime close to when the 2nd trailer dropped, SDCC would be the absolute earliest they can rapid prototype something in time for. Through my line of work, this wouldn't be too hard to believe given how tight Marvel has been with revealing Spidey to merchandisers. I didn't even get to see Spidey until the week prior to the 2nd trailer, and I usually see this stuff nearly a year before public reveal. Just to manage expectations, I wouldn't be surprised if what they reveal in July is just a 3D printed non-articulated figure with the suit painted on, since presumably they'd have to source a shorter body than ASM2 for Holland, but entirely possible they could mock up a fabric costume in time.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

I'm liking this costume more and more so I hope they can swing it by xmas. They will need a smaller body though, won't they?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

New footage of Spidey in a TV Spot. He's pretty "amazing". I think we finally have a live-action Spider-man faithful to the Ditko/Romita comics. I don't think Webb or Raimi did a very good job capturing the character on the big screen:

Yup, Holland is listed at 5'8, well shorter than most of the Avengers cast, except for RDJ w/o his platform shoes :lol Here he is standing next to Bettany who's 6'3. The ASM2 figure I believe is too tall, HT really should get a shorter body for this release.

So Hot Toys isn't given an advance look to design the Spider-man prototype early?

I don't think so... I mean Spidey was a late edition as it was

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

I don't know how early HT usually gets designs before a movie but I remember an interview with Kevin Feige several months after the Spidey announcement where he spoke a bit about the suit design. He said it was different from past films but still very much classic Spider-Man, so the suit design has been around for a while now. Whether HT was privy to that, who knows.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Captain America: Civil War - Spider-Man Collectible Figure

Hot Toys along with every other merchandising licensee are always given designs early in order to develop their products. If a particular product is to coincide with the launch of a movie, they will get the designs very early on. J.C. Hong said in an interview that HT gets character designs a year before a movie is released.

Spider-man was a late addition to the movie due to the Marvel/Sony deal, so that probably accounts for part of his figures delay. Or maybe HT is still trying to figure out how to do his movable eyes? More than likely, there is an embargo on CW Spidey merchandising since there is NOTHING in stores with MCU Spidey on it, but tons of CW merchandising plastered with Captain American and Iron Man.

This. We're all just guessing here with regards to HT, but it's highly unlikely that HT would be the only toy licensee privy to advanced looks at Spider-Man, so the embargo theory makes the most sense. I don't think the late addition was much of a factor, since they had enough time to cast an actor and put together a costume by the time they started prinicipal photography, which was almost a year ago, about how long it takes most toy companies to turn around product.
